Covered the pool today and finished by making a wish that it would vanish before next summer. I have come to believe that pools are like boats...better to have friends that own one than to own one yourself.

I'd much rather own a boat than have a friend that owns one, vice versa for pools.

Since I switched to a saltwater/chlorine generator things have eased up a bit, but still more trouble than it's worth. Now that our kids are mostly out of the house, it just sits there sucking electricity. Side question...why do Polaris cleaners cost so much?

Agree.. I once had a house with a pool and it was the biggest hassle and pain in the arse I have ever had to deal wit..
In Florida, we Screen our pools like this:
and never really have to cover them... but it was still a pain in the arse and an expense that I just got sick of dealing with

Growing up in Kentucky I had one relative with a pool. We went over during the summer and had swim parties. I love Pools, they however ended up filling it in with concrete and it no longer exist.
Having a pool is like anything else, its gonna take time and money.
