| Fishing just West of Henderson? (Posted on 10/7/12 at 4:02 pm)
Stumbled on that waterway just west of western levee to the spillway (at I-10). Would've put in that day, but was kinda late, well never mind... Looks pretty, and I'm assuming that it's outside the spillway, so no 14" min on bass. Suggestions? Experiences?

Yea, just re-read the regs... Looks outside the spillway to me. The area south of U.S. 190 from the West Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee (WABPL) to the intersection of LA 1 and U.S. 190 due north of Port Allen, west of LA 1 from U.S. 190 to LA 20 in Thibodaux, north and west of LA 20 from LA 1 to U.S. 90, north of U.S. 90 from LA 20 to the WABPL, east of the WABPL from U.S. 90 to the Corps of Engineers (USACE) Locks on the WABPL at the Charenton Drainage and Navigation Canal (CDNC), north of and including the CDNC from the USACE Locks on the WABPL to Highway 87, north and east of Highway 87 from the CDNC to Highway 320, east of Highway 320 from Highway 87 to Highway 86, south and east of Highway 86 from Highway 320 to Highway 345, east of Highway 345 from Highway 86 to Highway 679, south and east of Highway 679 from Highway 345 to Highway 3083, south of Highway 3083 from Highway 679 to the WABPL and east of the WABPL from Highway 3083 to U.S. 190." ETA: There's a picture map too. (for those like me who struggle with squiggly line letter things)

Who knows the name of that bayou? It goes all the way from Krotz Springs down to south of Henderson... and there's a lake down there called Catahoula Lake? Who knew there were TWO? I guess the one in Cenla is Lake Catahoula.

That bayou is normally called Bayou Paranee (sp?) and runs all the way into Lake Dautrieve and Fausse Point. Fishing in the late summer and fall can be very good once the water clears a little bit. In the spring it usually is too muddy to fish. There are a bunch of rice fields to the north of Henderson that drain into it keeping the water muddy. I have caught some pretty good stringers in the past there.

A better question is why would you want to keep a bass smaller than 14 inches?

Because a 13 1/2 football has some good filets on it.

Seems like some pretty good eating to me. I'd rather keep a few 13 inchers and let the 20 inchers go. (depending on what's in the well) But hey, that's just me. (today) What's your philosophy on keeping and releasing?

Thanks jimbeaux. Doubt i'm gonna make there today, but gonna try to squeeze in a day this week if I can. If it looks muddy as hell, we'll drop in the other side of levee.
