Im stating a fact. Les Miles calls the plays and is the brain (or lackthereof) of our offense (if you can call it that).

I coach little league football, what I've noticed is,when the qb throws, the receivers should catch it.When the rb runs,he should not be stopped so quickly. When the ball is snapped, the defensive line should not be so far across the line of scrimmage. Also, the Russel Sheppard kid needs more than one snap per game.Other than that, everything looks good.

Why are you people so defensive? I merely asked a simple question. DA wanted coaches opinions, that guy answered and I was just curious as to where he coached.
Feeling a little insecure are ya?

I am not sure where you could assume "insecurity" from questioning you. It's annoying frankly because I don't understand why you've decided to take it upon yourself to screen replies in this thread for God knows what purpose you are doing it for. Maybe you are just trying to be a troll.

That sounds like an opinion since I'm pretty sure that Les Miles has a brain and is likely smarter than you are. But you still haven't told us where you coach.
I just asked a simple question. Even a you should know where you coach.

How is a physical state an opinion? Les Miles physically uses his vocal chords to create vibrations in the air that travel into a microphone that are captured and sent through wires and into the ear piece of Zach Mettenberger. Is this an opinion to you? Are you a nihilist, man?

No need to be ashamed that you aren't a coach. It isn't any surprise after reading your posts.

Man, real Coaches! Who needs real coaches to tell you who is in charge...

Les Miles is the one of the worst coach in NCAA Football. He wins with talented players and great Defenses with great Coordinator making the calls. He shows nothing special that any other head coach can do themselves. The man has speech problems, He said things that only him himself understands, He has teams kneel down minutes before halftime, Cowards down when plays are needed, He does things that no one that has football knowledge could ever comprehend. And more importantly the man for years has had difficulty with clock management. The man is stubborn and when he has his mind set on it he does not change it and it affects everything his team does. He has problems finding QB for this team he dreams up. He is cocky only when his team wins and is real dumb founded when the team is really close to losing a ball game and can not ever come up with a solution. And he claps weird and eats grass that everyone spit on,

But I always support LSU so I will always support Les Miles...

"I also don't think the problem is something that can be fixed mid-season"

Hey Tony, just my opinion , I think the amount of money we pay les miles, he better try an FIX the problem... To expect LSU fans to just except this train wreck on offense this whole season would be insulting to Tiger Nation.

Get the chalk board out , and draw up some plays , because the 4 or 5 we run now Doesn't work.

The reason I am frustrated isn't due to the loss, but why we lost.

Football fortunes run in cycles. See USC, FSU, Michigan, Tennessee, etc. We are in the midst of our up swing. It won't last forever. We need to take every advantage while were hot. If we're blowing our day in the sun because of coaching malpractice, that stinks.

There is no excuse for our product on offense. No excuse. If the OC can't run THIER offense they way they want to, or are incapable of performing the job, tell me now. I won't get too excited the rest of the way.

re: I'd like to hear the opinion of coaches out there..

I coach at the high school level and I always find it funny when fans think answers to football problems are so black and white. "I dont know why we dont just do...." "All we have to do is..." "the problem is....." "why cant the coaches see that...". I've had friends ask me what would you do right here at certain points in games and they always look at me funny when I say I have no idea. I dont spend anytime scouting LSU's oppponents, I dont spend time preparing the players during the week. I know this: when preparing a game plan you have to first ask "what do we do well?" or "what do we want to hang our hat on?" Then you have to figure out if that looks good against what the opponent is showing on film. People always complain via TD or facebook when a certain game plan doesnt appear to be working. People always want to make an adjustment and starting doing ______instead. Its not that easy when you have spent the whole week on the game plan that you created during the weekend. You cant just abandon it and pull something out of your ass. If LSU's offensive staff was convinced they could run right at Florida and developed the plan to do so and worked on that all week then they get into the game and see that they cant its hard to just switch to something else. Sometimes your opponent just has a better plan. (I know fans think that Miles and Co. should have the best plan every week, but there are a lot of great staffs around the country) I firmly believe that games are won or lost before the game is ever played.

Field position, turnovers, time of possession, and end each drive with a kick. Wins these and win the game.I know thats obvious to all fans but I do believe that is what LSU wants to hang its hat on and thats what they plan for.

The truth is that none of these online "experts" know how to fix the offensive problem because they dont spend the time in preperation

Thanks for the reply. That's what I know to be true.

I coached hoops for many years. If you designed your team to play zone defense, you can't simply call a man-to-man if the zone isn't working. Calling plays means nothing if the preparation wasn't done.

So I ask, whose offense is it, and can he/they correct it in time? I doubt it this late in the game.

re: I'd like to hear the opinion of coaches out there..

I will not tell you where I coach but I will give you my opinion and some concerns I know about.

1)Fottball is a numbers game for the offense. In 2011 when LSU played Florida,LSU used motion by the H back to help them out number the Fla defense at the point of attack. Yesterday, nothing. One example, LSU game out in a formation, TE Trips (TE and two receivers to the same side). Fla.'s SS totally disregarded the the second receiver (pre-snap) and was unblocked and stopped the tigers for a 2 yard loss. Florida had a tendency on this formation and drilled LSU for a loss.

2) If you are on defense, the FB will take you to the ball every time. No counters like Fla ran to end the game vs LSU. There is absolutely no imagination on offense. A lot of the reason that Miles has been successful was because of the uncertainty that he brought to every game. Now that he is suppose to win every game, he no longer has "LESticals"!

3) Mettenberger is catching a lot of flack because people thought he would be the savior at QB. But because Miles chose not to get him many reps in 2011, this guy comes in with hardly any playing experience. On top of this, the route combinations that LSU runs are elementary. Example, vs Auburn,LSU ran 2 bootlegs near their own endzone. There were 2 receivers on each of these plays and both were blanketed. He ended up throwing both into sidelines. Look Jamarcus Russell couldnt get out of one year in the NFL and Jimbo Fisher had him playing good football. Point being Fisher game planned the opponent, coached the QB's and called the plays. This is not happening at LSU...

Being a Saban disciple, you think Muschamp studied the national championship game. Probably mad a phone call to ol St Nick.

I will leave you with this. Second guessing a guy in your own profession, especially coaching,is almost taboo!! College football is a business. If you were CEO of a company and you should be profitting 2 Billion a year and you are only profitting 1 Billion a year...what would happen? And finally, as a coach, after a loss, you want to be able to lay your head on the pillow at night knowing that you gave your team the best chance to win. In the National Championship game, this was clearly not done. Was this done vs Fla., it is hard for me to say because of dropped passes and turnovers. There are things you can do to get defenders out of the box. Spread it out more, maybe Bubble Screens, throw it deep...who cares if its incomplete but at least you let people know that you will go deep on 1st down.

In coaching, there are different philosphies and different mindsets, thats why there are some great coaches, good coaches and bad coaches. Not sure were Les falls, buthe is making about 4.5 million a year!!

Here's something for you. I know very little Xs and Os about football. I enjoy drinking a lot during game, so much so, that I sometimes have to rewatch games later to really know what was going on. It's pretty obvious that I know a hell of a lot less about football than even the janitor that sweeps the football operations department building. But you know what? Our offense sucks dick. It's a problem.

The offense is a good offense. Ive talked to many defensive coaches who think a good multiple pro offense is the hardest to prepare for. Many defensive coaches have said that the spread is incredibly easy to defend if you have spent your recruiting resources building a good d. (ever notice that spread offenses always score a lot of points against teams with similar offensive schemes?). LSU doesnt need to scrap the multiple pro, they need to make the slight adjustments they need to make it more efficient. The offense is in a rut, of course, but I dont think its as drastic as many think.
