Did you skip Hollywood studios? Mine young ones loved it. We only stayed in ak for 3/4 day. Did they give out candy at the Halloween party. Someone told me they let you trick or treat.

Just getting in from Day 3. Yes, we skipped Hollywood Studios. I am sure that my kids would have loved it, but we only had 3 days here. If I had another day, we'd go there. Yes, they did give out candy at the Halloween Party, but it was just at designated places where cast members (not characters) were handing it out. AK was a nice change of pace today, even though it was pretty crowded. The African area and the Kilimanjaro safari were very cool. In Asia, the River ride was a lot of fun for the kids and the Everest ride was great. (BTW, if anyone says you might get wet on the River ride, they are FOS... you get drenched on it.) Dinoland was okay, but sort of like a carnival with all of the pay-to-play booths. The food was WAY better than MK. Also, they served alcohol, which was nice. The nicer places required reservations, but even the sidewalk places were serving stuff that was far better than anything in MK. Thanks so much for all of the advice and friendly dialogue. It added another fun aspect to our trip. Hope all of you coming down here have as great a time as we did!

How does the kids teachers react to y'all taking them out of school. I want to go next September when it will be my son's 3rd birthday. My girl will be in pre-k. I don't guess she will miss much since it's pre-k, but as they get older, I would assume it would be harder to make up work. Can you get the absences excused?

Depends on the the kids relationship with the teacher and the school office. As a junior, we pulled my oldest and homework was done there and back. Some old biddies teachers would not excuse. Some would. But family time is more important that any teacher.

I agree, I'm sure it depends on the student also, My cousin just got back from the Disney cruise. He is deploying to Afghanistan next year, so they excused them for that reason.

Yeah. Mine are K and Pre-K. We just told them a week before that we would be out of town. i10Duck, you live in Mobile and your kids are our's age... What school do yours go to? We go to St. Paul's.

If I had to skip one, it would have been Epcot. Hollywood studios It great. I had as much fun at toy story mania as the kids did. Also have to ride Rock n roller coaster!

We did skip Epcot. I come to Orlando/DW occasionally for conventions with work. And, when I am here san kids, I always hit Epcot and (try to) pound a beer in every country. (but, usually only get to Canada before I hail a cab and go home.) However, my kids are 5, 4, & 4. They would rather swim in the hotel pool than go to Epcot. Next year, we might try it. But, unfortunately, we could not hit Epcot with the kids this year.

That sounds awesome. I've been here ~10 times, but I don't think it ever "clicked" for me until this time. Seeing my kids so excited has opened a new level of endearment. Hope you enjoy your trip.

In laws can be awesome to bring or ruin the whole trip. We always take my mom. She is the laid back kind, you ask what everyone wants to eat, she just says whatever everybody else wants is fine with her. My MIL on the other hand would ruin the whole trip. My wife says she is not allowed to come! I also enjoy being able to bring my mom, because we never were able to do stiff like that as kids.
