| What will it take for Romney to win? (Posted on 10/7/12 at 3:31 pm)
Obama really got exposed at the debate. Obama has lost support from moderate Democrats like myself. The economy is in the tank. We are spending way too much. I think Romney wins VA, FLA, and Ohio. Will that get him to the magic number?

I is almost a lock that Romney wins if he gets those three states.

These hardcore progressives who have hijacked the Democratic party have little resemblance to the Democratic party you grew up with. That couldn't be more obvious after Obama's first term and the widespread support for his radical policies from the Democratic party.

Truth which is hard to come by in our current political environment. One truth is Romney is infinity more qualified to manage our economy/domestic affairs than Obama ever will be. It really boils down to philosophy/policy: do you want empower free enterprise/the market economy or do you want to empower government.

Not like the mean and bitter religious right that has hijacked the GOP since Reagan first sold out to them.

No doubt. Just look at all the horrid shite they've been able to push through, since then.

That will be difficult. But if he does, I believe he will win Colorado as well, and possibly Wisconsin, sealing the deal. But that's a big "if" on the first three.

Even if Obama were to crash the free market and impose his European Socialist model over here...it wouldn't last long. Hell...they're pretty much done over there; and our poplulous is nothing like theirs. This place is so polarized, I'm not sure Jesus could bring it together...much less Obama. Like Thatcher said..."the problem with Socialism is that they always run out of other people's money to spend". Earth 2012. Live and learn.

If he wins those 3 it's over... literally. If he wins FLA and VA but not Ohio then he MUST win Nevada. If he doesn't it could be a 271-265 type loss. If he wins FLA, VA and can somehow win either WI or PA then he's got it. Right now I think Obama has still got Ohio, so Romney is going to need to pull some magic in NV.

The Republican party has gone extreme hard right since Reagan. No moderate power whatsoever. As evidence, I point you to its last five nominees: George H.W. Bush Bob Dole George W. Bush John McCain Mitt Romney

All of those candidates pandered to the right during their campaigns, regardless of their political history or personal beliefs.

The religious right has been a minimal factor this Presidential cycle. The ones most concerned about Romney's Mormonism to date have been the leftists who told us he'd never lock up the evangelicals. That has been a complete non-factor. Today's mainstream Republicans are yesterday's Democrats. Conservatives have the tea party. Progressives have Obama and the modern Democratic party. Yesterday's Democrats have no one but today's Republicans. I think moderate Democrats end up splitting hard for Romney before its all said and done after being hoodwinked into thinking Obama was really a moderate in 2008, despite his record.
