Skin, lung and prostate cancer are all more common and colon cancer is just about as common.
Skin and colon cancer are just as preventable if caught early so it isn't an issue of need to raise awareness.

It is a very common form of cancer and the people who are working for the charity and marketing groups for breast cancer awareness have done a great job.
Go start a colon cancer awareness group and see where that gets you.

got yelled at by inlaws yesterday for saying there is absolutely no need for breast cancer awareness at this time but its simply a money grab by football to find a cause sympathetic with women. In reality there are many other forms of cancer that require more awareness at this time.

Because men think women will like them more if they wear pink and give money for breast cancer. It's the new "hip" disease like AIDS in the 80's and early 90's.

I'm a GI doc and we have talked about this..boils down to wearing brown and talking about your bowel movements isn't as marketable.

The reason is two-fold:
1. Behind non-melanoma skin cancers (squamous cell carcinomas and basal cell carcinomas, both of which rarely metastasize), breast cancer is the MOST common cancer among women and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women (2nd behind lung cancer).
2. Unlike lung cancer, major treatment advances in breast cancer have increased the number of long term survivors of the disease. In cancers such as lung, the new case number per year roughly matches the number of patients who die of the disease each year. Therefore, there's not a huge survivor pool, unfortunately.
