DA
Why do you think the democratic party is some bastion of science? Your party's main support, Blacks, Mexicans, and the poor, could care less about "Science".

Stop the utter BS that the left in this country is more "sophisticated" when it comes to scientific thinking. They aren't. And there's no dispute.

That is what pisses me off about the Republicans. It's not necessarily that they have crazies in their party (both parties have them), it's that they put them in high-ranking positions of power where their idiotic views can do real damage.

I agree that the wars overseas area huge part of the problem and that is one of my biggest concerns with Romney, but Obama is just as bad. In fact we are now finding new conflicts over there to involve ourselves in because of him.

I just don't see how the religious fricknuts are our biggest problem. Let them pander to their voting base. If those idiots are stupid enough to fall for it, then that's their problem. I can explain to my kid everything that's wrong with the religious rights views on science. What i can't explain to her is why we would have entitlement programs which main goals are to increase the number of people on them.

See my earlier post to prove his bat shite craziness on the subject of science and the Dem Party for what it is, complete and utter bull shite. He hasn't tried to respond to it as it proves the point that he is shooting for deflection and nothing else.

Yes, we are so much advanced by a society that can antiseptically dispose of life in the womb like taking out the trash. I feel so enlightened by science!

Let me summarize the conservative response:

D's have idiots too
Blacks, Mexicans and the poor don't care about science
Syria!!
Romney won the debate!!
(you guys left out Solyndra)
and my favorite - it doesn't matter because it doesn't affect me.

I don't understand how people think that ignorance in power doesn't affect them. I'm pretty sure that if given the chance, this idiot would eliminate biology as we know it today. These are the same people who try to put stickers in biology textbooks, & who put out the same tired "it's just a theory" statements we hear on this board from the usual cast of fools. The problem here is this fool has power, & isn't about to be shy about using his power to further his idiocy-centric worldview.

I'll stipulate we shouldn't look to Congressman Broun for our science questions if you'll stipulate we shouldn't look to b.h. obama for our questions on the economy or foreign policy or border security or the environment or energy or the constitution.

This is a legitimate point because the goal of this thread was to smear all conservatives with a member of the fringe. DA never posts about the idiots on his side. Bet you've never called out your side either.

Except for the African American "neanderthals" as you called them, who voted against gay marriage.

the main point was to smear republicans as a whole, which is stupid

do you know how many people in this country have the same view that Broun does? its a lot, but in reality it doesn't have a single affect on anyone's life except those people

there are a lot of people who are religious...you wanting to regulate that religion out of them is just as bad

there is no way the government will be able to "eliminate biology" or force any type of religion on the people...it will never happen. Romney does not stand for any of that

and acting as if Dems don't put people with questionable intelligence/experience in power positions is just laughable

yes, his position is illogical and stupid from a scientific point of view...but get off your high horse. this country was founded by people who have the same view as Broun for frick's sake

I had never heard of Akin until this year, and not heard of this Broun fellow until this thread.
Pretty fringe if you ask me.

How about that Dem that thought Guam would flip over? Or Sheila Jackson Lee? Or Ms Go Gatta?

Are those members of the "fringe"?

I know it's out there but it's not a significant # of the pols on the right. In fact, I'd bet it's fairly close to the same # of religious black politicians throughout the US.

I've been involved in conversations about this with both caucasian and black evangelicals. It's not exclusive to either side.

Huh?

You're talking about an ABA rating of 14 out of 185 nominees (.075% ) and we can't be sure which of those 14 were eventually nominated and/or confirmed. Nevertheless, I would agree that those 14 should not ultimately nominated or confirmed. The irony, of course, is had that same story come out regarding conservative judges I'd have to be reading 10 pages of posts about how liberal the bias of the ABA.

And for the record, when it comes to appointments to government commissions or even quasi-cabinet level positions that require scientific objectivity, you're talking about a much more potential undesirable impact than the possibility that 14 random district judge (most likely) selections may sneak through the confirmation process.

doesn't represent what most religious people believe he is from one of those radical sects in protestantism that believe the bible is true even in the crazy claims like the earth is 600000 years old, people lived to be like 200 something years old. Women would have babies when they were 80 and so on and so forth. If these people took soem time and understood ancient greek literature maybe they have a better idea of why they said what they said.

Will never happen, but keep fretting and worrying about it if you choose.
