Fyi- I always put in and store an address which is a block or two away from my house as my HOME address. It still gets you to the general vicinity when you need it and in the event your GPS is stolen/lost, you don't have to worry about random folks showing up at your house.

I got hosed by my insurance company.
Much better to go with a high deductible than to claim items like a GPS. Insurance company is just going to raise your rate for filing a claim and for something that really isn't all that expensive.

I also lost 3 pairs of sunglasses in the break-in. My deductible was high, almost the value of the GPS and the sunglasses, so that's a losing situation right there, plus, they would only pay for an entry-level GPS unit, and mine was really nice.

can you show me stats? why would you be any more likely to be robbed by someone who stole your sat-nav? That makes no sense, your house is just another house like anyone else's on the street I'd assume.
I mean, I don't have any stats, but it's pretty easy. Somebody breaks into your car while you're at the mall, jacks your GPS - they know you're not home, so they go straight to your house. It's always better to not put your home address on your GPS. LINK

ah, I can understand that, but if you ain't jacked when you get home, you probably don't have anything to worry about...

Glad to hear it. I know it was a very satisfying morning for you, to participate in and complete this event. Glad I didn't get a phone call about a 40 yr old chick shitting herself at the finish line Now fix your man a sammich and go ice those shoulders.

Yeah. When I got a new GPS, I didn't even put my home address in.

I think this is some internet chain mail rumor Why would someone need directions to a house to rob they can just drive down the damn street

Because they know you aren't at home and most likely cannot get home quickly.

Who would steal a gps these days? They are pretty cheap and I'm sure they don't pawn for much.

It's likely. But go ahead and hand over your address if you like, I just don't put mine in.
