Deleting FB; Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the disconnect...

I pulled the plug on Facebook about three months ago. I had originally thought I would be able to check in on my friends from time to time and look and pictures of their wives/girlfriends in bikinis at fantastic destinations.

It quickly became evident that the real purpose of Facebook is to serve as a way for failed liberal bed- wetters who I once held in high esteem, to bludgeon me with liberal platitudes and then call me names if I object.

It was no longer possible for me to live in a world where buddies from my past were urging me to donate money to Elizabeth Warren or lecturing me on why AmeriKKKa hates President Obama because he is a black man.

So I pulled the plug. I felt better immediately. I prefer to remember my High School/college friends as the guys they were, rather than the angry, effete, entitled, precious, coddled ignorami that they have become.

I do however miss the bikini pics. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

You need smarter friends.

I have about 300 or so friends on Facebook and have never seen a pro-Democrat post from any of them.

Why don't you just block the updates of your friends who post political stuff?

Yeah. I did that. But then they'd post stupid shite on my page. That's what I get for running with The Undertakers For The Artworld Musician Crowd and fratting hard with guys who graduated from drunken college pranks to Trial Lawyer douche bags.

I just wanted to exchange family photos and check in with witty positive comments from time to time. I didn't realize so many people needed to work shite out in a public forum. And once it starts, you can never get those guys to bring it down a notch, they just get worse and worse. FB was wearin' me out...I like this place better anyway.

I've seen the angry rants from both sides, tbh. So, I do my best to filter out the politics (and I never post about it either). Thankfully, it's only a small handful that really get to me. I still use it to creep on the women, though.

And I guess the other part is that for some reason it actually bothers me that some of my old friends are so mindless, dishonest, vicious, devoid of good cheer, angry, dishonest, confrontational, ill-adjusted, dishonest, dishonest, etc.

It's a reflection on me no doubt, maybe my immaturity, but it actually hurt me in my gut, to see old friends so far off the rails. I found myself preoccupied with it. Again, that's on me. I'm just not cut out for it. Which is too bad, because I'm fairly sure I gave good Facebook. At least my Dear Mum said so.

It just wore my essentially happy and optimistic arse out.
People are just WAY too Dishappy and Disgruntlefied.
It's like The Rant after a loss, a veritable Sea of Angry Ego.
It rattles me to see the ease with which people will throw their friends under the bus.
