The Cubs would be a good look for him.

This decision would make too much sense.
Cubs won't get it done.

re: Josh Hamilton
The Rangers are loaded with prospects and dollars going forward. If I were them I wouldn't bat an eye letting him walk.

No one guy is bigger than a solid organization (see Pujols, Albert).

When has Tony Romo ever been considered anywhere near the best football player in the world?

As a devoted Rangers fan, I am very thankful for everything Josh has done for this franchise. But after tonight, and this past week, I do not want the team to sign him to an extension. He seemed totally disinterested in the game. And it seemed like he wasn't giving "his all" on the field. Also combined with his drug use, I don't see his body holding up.

dude hasn't looked like he gave a shite for a while now.

i'm fine with letting him go be some other teams drama queen.

he'll probably have a killer first year with whoever sings him and the Rangers will get blasted for letting him walk but by year 3 he will be wearing thin on his new fanbase with all the BS that comes with him.

re: Josh Hamilton
The main reason to not resign him is the amount of money he's gonna get. Its not worth that much money to invest in somebody who cant stay healthy. Plus he could drink a beer at any moment and then start taking body shots off of Ron.

re: Josh Hamilton
He played in 150 games this season.... He stayed relatively healthy this season. He is going to get 15-18 million a year easy. Rangers probably come in and offer 4 year with 5th option at 16 million a year. When he is healthy and focused he can be best player in league (see first 2 months of season) and can carry a team.
Several teams may come in and offer crazy money (Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, Mets) and you could have a surprise team come out of no where and offer him a nice contract (maybe O's, Arizona, Rockies, Astros)

re: Josh Hamilton
The Rangers will make him a token offer but not near $15 million. Nolan Ryan has got to be sick of his lax attitude and lack of trying. God hates me because I chew tobacco? I can't see straight because I drink too much caffeine? "I don't owe the Rangers anything"? The constant stress on management that he could relapse. His attitude is locker room poison. I can't imagine him coming back next season. Let's end it now while both sides are being civil.

re: Josh Hamilton
If Rangers make a "token" offer it won't be 15 million that is insulting an they would have to save face. I could see it being short term with club options or having a character clause in it about relapses.

Rangers fans on this board may hate him now but they were also some of same fans who when he was hot talking about 20 million, MVP, etc. Josh is an enigma, always has been and will miss a few games a year due to "personal" reasons, but he is also a hell if a talent and one of best in the game.

Rangers may do same thing they did with Lee,( even though he took less money and same years Rangers offered) they offer initial contract they like then let another club set the bar and come in and match. Then if anothe club comes in and offers crazy money they can save face and say they tried.

Local radio says that the team is tired of his off the field antics. I'm sure he has become a small clubhouse cancer.

I bet he got tow up last night

Because of a poor week? No.

Try three months. An then a week at the most important time of the year.

He is just not into it. He needs a fresh start elsewhere and the rangers need a fresh start without him. There already is not enough positions for the young incoming talent.

re: Josh Hamilton
I like watching the guy and root for him but if I were in charge of any organization I would be very hesitant to put big money behind him. He needs an almost perfect set of surroundings to flourish and stay on the right track. He's not a guy that can keep himself straight. He's a true addict and needs a strong group of veterans and people around that will keep him on track. This big of a change could be catastrophic for his recovery and cause him to relapse. Some one will throw a ton of money at him but they risk it being one huge frickup in the end. If I'm him or Boston, I stay as far away from one another as possible.

re: Josh Hamilton
the Rangers are a mediocre team without Hamilton.

If they let him walk they better have a backup plan.

re: Josh Hamilton
Yankees would probably be a great fit most years, they have a lot of strong leaders in club house that could keep him accountable, he wouldn't be seen as a savior, he would just be another superstar. That said, the Yankees won't be in the budding because they already have an aging roster and still need to resign Granderson/Cano/Swisher soon also Kuroda, Martin, Soriano are all going to be FA I believe. With Cashman wanting to lower some payroll they may be out of bidding process unless an elite pitcher is on the market.

You don't want him and Freese being pals. They'd feed off each other's vices and you'd have them both in rehab in three months.

If I were Daniels I'd go ahead and throw 2013 out the window. The prospects aren't yet ready (Profar, Olt, Perez) but a year at AAA and come 2014 I like my chances. My fear is that they will call them up next year and we have a team full of Benji Gils.

re: Josh Hamilton
Hamilton will stay in AL as a DH his body is starting to breakdown. I could see the Angels or Tigers being in running. The surprise team would be Atlanta, which is unlikely, but he is a Charleston area guy.

Detroit would be the better option. SoCal is dope central and he can't handle the limelight.
