2. Political correctness
3. Great Society
Conservative:
1. Corporate asskissing
2. Nation-building via foreign aid
3. Reluctance to embrace alternative energy solutions

Neither are exclusive to the conservative side of the aisle. Didn't Obama collect more from Wall St. in 2008 than McCain? Dems kiss the arse of their favorite corporations just as readily.

I'm not sure where this falls on the spectrum but the amendment that allowed for the direct election of Senators. It fundamentally changed the nature of Congress from a representitive Republic to a direct democracy. The Constitution was not designed structurally for a direct democracy. Oh, and just wait IMO...direct election of Supreme Court Justices will become a reality one day.
