Go try them on somewhere - you may find that some look better with your skin tone.
My husband never wears his - he hates any kind of jewelry. He doesn't even wear a watch. Never bothered me - if your man is going to cheat, a ring is not some kind of magic potion that will make him keep his dick in his pants.
Been together 22 years and married 17 years.

My is palladium but if you work with your hands, it scratches easily. It's cheaper than platinum but I don't mind my ring
It's a platinum type metal but about half the cost

On my 4th ring, 1st wife. Lost them all, first ring was gone after a month.
Tunsten is cool, have had tungsten/carbon fiber, platinum, wood/tungsten and now I am platinum with a tension set diamond.

If you follow tradition, go with the yellow gold, if you want something that will outlast you, choose tungsten or titanium.

White gold will turn a yellowish tinge too (depends on your body chemistry how long this takes). So you will need to bring it in to be replated("dipped") when this happens.
Just picked up my engagement ring today after having that done....makes my ring look as shiny as it did the day I received it.

I went with white gold. Never polished. Looks fine to me.

I think with mine...the constant washing my hands at work makes it "yellow" much quicker.
