I've had the same problem. Everyone says keep watching, but this is the reason I still haven't seen The Wire.

I'm almost on the exact same episode as you and I feel the exact same. I like it but don't really love it yet either. I'm going to keep watching because I felt the same way about mad men at first and now I love the show

Remember the name of the show is called "The Wire". Think about all of the things relating to this...the politics, the targets, the strategy in setting everything up, the surveillance team and different personalities being put together, the location this is all happening at. How can you not be intrigued on how everything unfolds and develops.

The last 10 minutes of the episode where all they said was F*ck. I was like WTF?!? 
Seemed kinda stupid and childish. I find it interesting but not making me think "when can I watch the next one."

My wife gave up after 3 episodes as well and she usually has great taste. I was hooked from the beginning and in my mind it is the greatest television show of all-time.
