i know lots of people have done those weekend trips on the track where you get to drive a "nascar" thats not fully powered.
how many of you think that with one week of training could actually make it one lap around a course in a REAL F1 car?
one of these
with this as its steering wheel
just to show you how hard it is, Richard from top gear couldnt even get the car into gear... and he drives supercars for a living

my answer: for starters im too big to even get into the cockpit. but if i could fit in it, i think with a week of training i could get it rolling on a straight away. no way i could handle turns because i know you have to speed up in turns to get grip and heat up the breaks, which doesnt seem right in my mind. so no, i dont think i could, but i would sure as shite enjoy trying

Just to give you an idea. There was this video on youtube, where they had a well known rally champion from dubai test the F1 car. Now this guy has probably the biggest collection of super cars you'll ever see. F40, F50, Enzo, CLK GTR, XJ220, Carerra GT, and so on. He test rode the car in the morning on a straight stretch of road, he got a few runs on it till he got comfortable with the shifting. Then they took the car on the track to race it against one of his suped up mustangs, and he ended up crashing the formula car. So chance is no one here would.

My GF had the opportunity to sit in a F1 car one time. She couldn't even mash down the clutch.

I can rev match pretty well in a manual, but I doubt I could deal with the touchiness of that throttle.

its the clutch, not the throttle... the thing is tuned to such high gears, richard took 2 minutes to move the car 20 feet... it kept stalling

once you figure out what each button does, then you have to be able to know which one to hit in a split second while driving a car 200+mph headed towards a turn.... no thank you
