Most of those are part-time jobs.

He does. They all do. They are the "intellectual elite", after all. Like Mike said, the ends justify the means. Besides, for an Obama supporter, more people dropping out of the work force is a good thing. This is more people to add to the govt tit with the leaches. The more you have, the better Obama's chances of winning.

What are you laughing about? This IS NOT good for Obama and more importantly is VERY BAD for this country. And you laugh because the number reported will be used politically as a good thing to make brain deads like you cheer!

Anyone else find this number suspicious? Isn't September a down month for employment numbers historically? It would be great if the unemployment rate was truly falling by such a large number, but with this administration's track record I simply cannot take anything at face value.

Since most people will not know this, it's up to Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney, in their upcoming debates, to repeatedly state that there 600,000 more part-time workers in September than there were in August, and since U-6 remained unchanged, then the only conclusion is that those 600,000 went from full-time status in one month, or were always in part-time status but were counted as full-time workers. They have enough time to be able to find a way to say this in very simple terms, that the average viewer can understand. Both also need to directly ask their opponent if they will acknowledge that the 7.8% figure represents a major shift in employed persons from full-time to part-time, and suggest this is a trend that will continue in another Obama administration.

Holy fricking shite.... This administration has no problem completely manipulating the jobs numbers to win an election. All of the economists were estimating the number staying at 8.1 or even bumping to 8.2. This is absolutely disgusting

Obama hired 600k part time staffers, each working 5 hours per week?

The unemployment report is only 55 minutes "old" as I type this, and no CNBC acknowledgment of the 600,000 new part-timers story. As the day goes on, this should become THE story.

NH, I appreciate your work... I understand this completely. I just don't believe that Romney/Ryan will be able to convey this message, even if they try, because of the media.

I honestly feel like there is nothing they will not do to maintain power. It really is scary.

Yeah I posted that before reading the 2nd page. But thanks for your useless post. U3 and U6 are simple enough to understand. The rest not so much.

Can't argue with you there. All I can suggest is that the unfiltered debate settings are one of the few places and times where Romney and Ryan can explain the reason for the shift directly to the people in terms they can understand, without being cut off. The American people will be able to identify with the reality that literally millions of workers are now working part time in this country when they want to be working full time. That is THE story of the employment situation right now.

Do they use the Household survey every month or is that a one off to create a fraudulent jobs report? I'm just trying to wrap my head around the simple math of only 114K in job addition leading to such a huge drop in unemployment. I guess just like the tax code, the govt. makes this shite impossible to comprehend so they can manipulate the situation as they see fit.

August revised from 96,000 to 142,000? That was a little off, huh?
