I have a 2004 landcruiser with 140000 miles on it. Bought it on 2008 for 25,000 with 60,000 miles on it. Love the vehicle. I will pass it on to my daughter in 3 years and buy another landcruiser that is about 5 years old when I do that. Sequoia will be cheaper, but landcruiser is made in japan. They are bulletproof as a result.

All the american cars I had or my family had as a kid were total crap regardless of age or cost. All of my japanese cars, trucks, and vans have been incredibly reliable. I made the mistake of buying a chrysler town and country mini van for my wife in 2001. After it left her stranded twice, I bought her a toyota sienna. She still drives it. My personal history with american made cars has been total crapola. Experience with japanese cars has been stellar. Experience is the best teacher.....

Sales and reliability aren't the same thing. Not even close.

I have an 04 tahoe that still runs as good as the day my dad bought it almost 9 years ago. Just rolled 203k and havent had to do anything except routine maintenance. I think you can get one like mine for under 6k.

Well I grew up on used cars but as I got older I started buying new. That way I know what I'm getting. Not some kids NASCAR dream. That said I buy not lease, pay them off and drive them until the wheels fall off. Both my wife and I. Rarely do I have a car note and actually haven't had one in years.

Yes. Mcdonalds sells a ton of hamburgers. Doesn't mean they are quality. Caravans are cheaper initially. However, when buying something used without the safety net of a factory warranty, it makes zero sense to buy a caravan. I hate car notes and dealership service departments,I stick with used japanese vehicles.

my 1998 4runner is about to roll over 300k and aside from a free lifetime alignment from firestone, i've changed timing belts a couple of times & the oil & new tires 2 or 3x. thats about it. oh and tightened the clutch one time.

I just sold an '04 F-150 with 160,000 miles on it that never failed me. And I sold it for $12,000 after refusing several offers over $11K.
That is great to hear. I have an '04 FX4 with 150k on it. Mind if I ask where you are, what shape the exterior/interior were in, and what method you used to list and sell?

i didn't have a car for awhile b/c i was living in the city and when i started staying longer in arky i needed my own car, i looked at used cars but this used car market is so strong i just went ahead and bought new... i wanted to spend around 20k cash and after looking around i just bought a 2012 civic to keep here. i wanted a suv or truck but for that kind of money they all had 100k miles. i guess i hadn't bought a car in a while i was surprised how much they cost. plus's i havn't bought gas in i don't know when, negs. driving a civic is pretty much zero driving excitiment. new 18k used with 30 miles maybe 15k i just went with the new
