The mechanism in one of my toilet tanks is leaking. Was about to go to Lowes but figured I'd check amazon. $10 for full tank mechanism replacement kit with Amazon Prime shipping(same kit was $12 at Lowes). Ordered at 11 AM, got email at 2 PM that my item shipped and is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.
In a country full of shitty retail companies, Amazon is the 800 lb gorilla with a chainsaw as a penis. 
I know, cool story bro.

Prime is pretty awesome but I have found more "Prime Eligible" products being overpriced to cover the expense of cheap express shipping.

Having to set foot in Lowes sets off my agoraphobia so I'm willing to wait a day.
And my house has 5 toilets so I've got 4 others to play with.

They use to offer free trials. Not sure anymore. But the service is $80 for the year and is well worth it if you purchase from Amazon a lot.

ETA: Pretty solid that they include a ton of free streaming TV shows and movies as well. It's not as much free content as Netflix, but I find the HD selections to stream at a higher quality.

i sweat to fricking god i was just getting ready to start this thread
i have saved +$150 in shipping alone this year
I am really worried that if the internet sales tax is passed that Prime will cease to exist
eta- btw, bought a kindle fire for my dad yesterday just to say thanks to Amazon.. after giving it a good look over, i am really impressed

Outside of groceries or extremely rare/local items I buy everything off Prime. That service is the fvcking tits.

This is true. I had Prime free for a year for being a student, and used it all the time. Did all my Christmas shopping online. I prefer shopping online for anything I can manage to do it for.
But I did notice that Prime items were often pricier than the same items by different Amazon sellers.
If you don't want to wait for the 3-5 days on other items, though, it's awesome.

Amazon Prime is getting less awesome.
More products are showing up as "add-on items" requiring $25 for free shipping, even with Prime.
