Aren't they supposed to destroy your license plate when you get a new car?
Bought a car in Kenner months ago. I received my new license plate like 2 months ago. I just got a letter in the mail for an unpaid parking ticket at Delgado college from September 12 with my old license plate number on it. Obviously wasn't me. Wtf?

when you sold the car, they are supposed to turn it back in to the DMV. You need to contact whoever you sold the car to. Probably contact delgado and get the make and model of whatever car it was.

When you sell or trade in your car, you're supposed to take the license place off yourself (just in case)

Lol, who is "they"? Who did you leave your license plate with? When you sell a vehicle, you either keep your plate and bring it to DMV yourself to be cancelled, or the Notary or car lot that transferred your car can take responsibility for doing that.

I traded it in and they said they'd take care of the plate for me. Didn't seem to be something I needed to worry about. Dad just called and said he talked to dealer and I'm sending my paperwork from the trade in

I was thinkin maybe someone from the dealership drove the car but I took off the plate myself. So someone physically put it onto a car

Plates, depending on when they expire, are transferred to the new/used vehicle you purchased from the vehicle traded in/sold. There is some paperwork involved, but in the end you use the same plates.
