just sounds like he will cap the total amount you can claim at $17k
for people like me who claim mortgage interest, student loan interest, daycare expenses, depreciation on my vehicle for work, millage for my vehicle, and charitable donations, i may not get to claim all that anymore.

Well, Romney did state on numerous occasions that he was all for closing loopholes and deductions, but he never specified what they were.
If people on here would intelligently debate instead of blindly thrashing Obama, this could be a productive discussion.
What deductions should fall by the wayside given Romney's statement?

There was nothing specific
Generally more tax returns, higher receipts. In theory the extra money coming in pays for itself and more. That's one of things we saw with the Bush tax cuts. Although, spending was happening at a staggering rate.
 But your not going to hear Romney say anything about Bush.

I, for one, am hoping we are talking about corporate loopholes and other nonsense and not too much on the personal returns
Mainly, mortgage interest deduction. I seriously worry about getting rid of this one.

The idea is to LOWER the rate and then eliminate the deduction.

If the tax cuts do not correspond with spending cuts then they are paid for by borrowing. In other words, it would be government spending.

Yeah: Ask Barney Frank about protecting Fannie/Freddie and how they passed laws that forced lenders to loan to borrowers who had no business buying, or face litigation from the US government.
