You don't have to bring water if you don't want. You can go up to any beverage or food stand that serves drinks and get a 20 oz cup of ice water for free. Lots of people don't know this. I just got back from Disney last week. This was true at every park also btw

Im pretty sure it is illegal to not do this

Everyone needs to try the Beverly once. I liked the one from Mexico, think it was watermelon. I did fill the kids cups up from there.

It is frowned upon but as long as you do it sanitarily they don't usually say something. But to be clear once something like this becomes popular Disney will start enforcing the rules on it. Just be discreet.

It is in the MK for sure. My favorite though is Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom because they offer more than the usual burger type meal. You can get ribs and BBQ chicken and a few smoked meat menu items.

Have fun. Lots of people have said similar things butI think Tiger185 said it most succintly:

1
quote:

. Be at the gates when the park opens. You will have minimal waits for whatever you want to do. Have a ball for a few hours.

Then

2. Go back to your hotel and take a nap. Everyone. Later in the afternoon/evening head back out for more fun.

I've been to Disney several time and every evening you see little kids having total breakdowns because their parents have inadvertntly (hopefully) just pushed them way past their tolerances.

A couple of things I found helpful which you don't often see mentioned:

If you or the kids need a break and quiet time at Magic Kingdom, take the boat to Tom Sawyer Island. It's quiet, lots of trees, not usualy crowded and they at least used to sell Penut Buter and Jelly Sandwhiches or Fried Chicken.

With Kids that age I'd do a character breakfast. The one I like best is in the Contemporary Resort I think the restaruant is called Chef Mickeys.

At Epcot, the kids can get some type of little craft thing at the first country on either side and then each country stamps them or adds something to them. It's free if I remember right.

Some rides I think the kids will like:

Buzz Lightyear (MK)

Soarin (Epcot)

The Living Seas (Epcot) - not a ride per say but cool with the characters from Finding Nemo.

The show in the big tree at AK is cool but could scare the kids as the seats mimic things like bugs crawling past and I think water sprays when something in the show shoots liquid at you.

Any of the parades and firework shows at the variouis parks are pretty cool for kids.

Tusker House also has a slightly alternate menu compared to Ohana and Chef Mickey's. Tusker House is by far my favorite breakfast spot and another one people overlook because it's in the AK.

Make sure to try the jungle juice.

A great counter service area is in the Land pavilion in Epcot down where Soarin is. Great stuff.

Also some of the food (fruits and veggies) were grown right there in Living with the Land.

It's free and they get a cool Mickey pic if they fill up all the countries stamps.

I've had it a few times, but I've found that if I sit down and eat lunch there it cuts into the grazing I intend on doing around the world

Definitely late to planning, but do this:

quote:

1. Be at the gates when the park opens. You will have minimal waits for whatever you want to do. Have a ball for a few hours.

Then

2. Go back to your hotel and take a nap. Everyone. Later in the afternoon/evening head back out for more fun.

Don't overdo it. Have a great trip.

That age is the best to go to Disney. The kids will love it. It truly is magical at that age. Getting there 30 minutes before park opening and taking breaks are key. Use fastpass to your advantage. Being off-site isn't any harder than on-site.

Couple of other things:

Of course you should ride the Tommoroland Transit Authority if for no other reason than to honor TD's own Tom Morrow. (Plus, it's quiet and non scary way to preview some of the Tommorowland rides.

It's a Small World will likely be a big hit with the kids. But of course you won't get that song out of your head for awhile after ridng it.

The Turkey legs at MGM are great (at least I love them).

The kids tend to like the little water hopping fountains where the water jumps out of one opening and goes into another. These are in Epcot I think.

The Jungle cruise is great if you like corny language.

Hidden Mickeys.

Have you tried the Yak and Yeti yet? It also has a very different and somewhat authentic menu. Well worth it if you like varying menus. It isn't a quick serve though and reservations are recommended although we have had success with walk ups.

POG (passion fruit, orange juice, guava) is the one served at Tusker House and Ohana.

re: Last minute advice - Heading to Disney World today (Updates pp.10 & 11 & 12)

I worked at Disney World for a small amount of time.

-Navigate the parks in the opposite direction as most people. (Ie: in Magic Kingdom, most people start out by going to Main Street, then Tomorrowland, then around counter-clockwise the whole time).
-Don't forget that FastPasses now expire if you don't use them within the allotted time frame. This is a brand new policy, and many are not aware of it.
-If you have not already, download the DisneyMagic app for your smartphone. It will tell you wait times for all of the rides, where various characters are located and what times they will be there. It is a HUGE time saver.
-If you plan on riding any big ticket rides (Rockn' Rollercoaster, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Everest, etc. Send either you or your wife to go grab a fast pass for that ride immediately as soon as you enter the park. The fast passes for those rides are typically all gone within a few hours and you will then be stuck waiting in a 2 hour line.
-Don't forget about rider switch passes! Seeing as how you have small children. If you and your wife still want to ride a big ride that might be too much for them, go to the front of the line and ask for a rider switch pass. You will stand in line and ride the ride while your wife waits with the kiddos, then when you are done, give the pass to your wife and she will get to cut to the front of the line (or at least go through the fast pass line) and ride while you wait with the kids.

Have fun!!

I've never done this , POTC is always my first stop..
