“It’s a symbol not of success but of failure,” he said. “It’s also a symbol of a serious conflict of interest. An independent inspector general looked at this investment and concluded that the administration had steered money to friends and family – to campaign contributors. This building, this half a billion dollar taxpayer investment, represents a serious conflict of interest on the part of the president and his team.” “It’s also a symbol of how the president thinks about free enterprise,” said Romney. “Free enterprise to the president means taking money from the taxpayers and giving it freely to his friends.” “You look at this building behind us; this is not the kind of building that is built by private enterprise,” he said. “This is the kind of enterprise – the kind of building – that’s built with half a billion dollars of taxpayers money. It’s not just the Taj Mahal of corporate headquarters. you probably also heard that inside there are showers that have LCD displays that tell what the temperatures are of the shower water. and the robots inside actually provide Disney music tunes.”

He needs to pound this issue into the ground. This is textbook corruption.

One of the resident clowns here just claimed in another thread that Solyndra was a "Bush deal."

Exactly. The mainstream media completely ignored this until last night. The debate allowed him to bypass some of the mainstream media filter last night. Now, he needs to keep it rolling until the next debate.

Obviously not "this" morning but this video needs to get plenty of air time leading up to the election.

Yeah..I mean the $5 million (which by the way he didn't give to his friends or campaign contributors) really moved the needle. Come on, man.

Look it was a bad investment, but to say because Solyndra failed we shouldn't invest in green energy is just dumb.

This was the subject the Prez got OWNED on last night. The supposed oil subsidies which don't even go to "Big Oil" but small mom and pop drillers are about 1/50th of the money we waste on these green energy products. It's not economically feasible right now and it's costing us a lot of money. It's a string of dumb investments.

yeah, i just responded in that thread. Bush did create the loan program, though he did not even award one loan as President. Then, Obama actually expanded the program, creating section 1705 which actually gives the companies who win the loan more money from tax payers. So, Obama's Administration actually changed the loan program to make it worse for tax payers, and now is blaming it on Bush. Even though Bush never approved one loan.

Also, not all of the $90 billion goes to "green energy". Some goes to nuclear, some to coal, some to improving our power grid. And well under half, as Mitt said, have failed.
