| What is Romney's plan for pre-existing conditions? (Posted on 10/4/12 at 10:40 am)
He said it would be covered under his health plan How exactly does he plan on getting them covered while keeping healthcare affordable?

I suggest this: "I am not responsible for pre-existing conditions" Precedent: "Mr. Obama...your economy stinks...why?" "Well, the bad economy is a 'pre-existing condition' (previous administration) and therefore I am not liable for it" eeezy-peeezy

He'll pull a number out of the sky and claim that amount will come from savings in reducing waste and overspending without specifics. Oh wait, you were talking about Romney, not Obama.

First thing I see on Google: Romney Doesn't Actually Have A Plan To Help People With Preexisting Conditions Get Health Insurance Is that what you wanted me to see?

Let the states decide. Which is the way it should be.

I don't believe preexisting conditions should be covered, if a person waits until the diagnosis to get coverage.

No, I was hoping you could actually do your own research and maybe read his plan like an adult. My mistake.

Yeah right. He's waiting on the government to help him.

He doesn't really have one which made letting him win the healthcare/medicare portion of the debate rather disgusting. Vouchers, seriously, are you kidding me? Obama was a mess last night.

This Why should pre-existing conditions even be covered? If you get into a car wreck without insurance, you can't just buy car insurance the next day and expect them to cover it. Why should an insurance company be liable for something that happened while you were not insured?

You could do it by having a waiting period for that particular condition to be covered. The way it is now is that for most people with pre-existing conditions they can not get any type of coverage.

Your mistake is assuming it's included in Romney's plan
quote:
MITT'S PLAN On his first day in office, Mitt Romney will issue an executive order that paves the way for the federal government to issue Obamacare waivers to all fifty states. He will then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible. In place of Obamacare, Mitt will pursue policies that give each state the power to craft a health care reform plan that is best for its own citizens. The federal government’s role will be to help markets work by creating a level playing field for competition.
LINK I don't see it. Maybe I'm missing it. Help me out. Again from last night:
quote:
LEHRER: ... if Obamacare is repealed. How would you replace it? (CROSSTALK) ROMNEY: Well, actually it's -- it's -- it's a lengthy description. But, number one, preexisting conditions are covered under my plan. Number two, young people are able to stay on their family plan. That's already offered in the private marketplace. You don't have to have the government mandate that for that to occur.

And about the people who are born with their condition?

Why should it be ok for Insurance to be forced to accept pre-existing conditions without giving them a reasonable chance to pay for it. There is a roll here for the Government and they botched it during the healthcare debate. Those with pre-existing conditions should be given an option to buy from a federally subsided exchange or private insurance. Insurance Companies should be allowed to sell policies that exclude the pre-existing condition. Allow them to buy a supplemental policy from the exchange.
