I could see Selmy making some wise crack about Jorah being such a fierce warrior they wrote songs about him...fierce in a tournament, that is...over a woman.
Even with Longclaw and youth on his side, Barristan would whop. that. ass.

I loved that he killed the two Gold clocks they sent after him (Unarmed), and then wrote all about it in the White Book.
BTW when he is all done, if GRRM wants to write a companion book detailing the White Book of the Kingsguard, I would buy it.

I don't even want him to live through the end. I don't want someone the likes of Barristan the Bold to die peacefully in his sleep. He is a knight of the Kingsguard, he deserves better.

I want him to take out someone like the hound or Robert strong in his final battle. It should be someone who is seen as unbeatable. The final moment should be spent in victory against the most feared warrior in the realm and while Barristan the Bold dies at the end of that battle. He lives just long enough to see the life leave the eyes of the most feared warrior in the realm at the end of his blade. He then realizes that his duty to his queen has been done, his vow has been fulfilled and that it is now time to die in the service of house targaryen as he was always meant to.
