Apparently not, a couple of other folks seemed to miss it too.

Obama's Keynesian economic model wont work because it will never be fully realized with a divided house and senate. We also have reason to be skeptical based on the problems in Europe which has a more progressive welfare state.
thats not fiscally conservative imo

This is the American healthcare system. It has its pluses and minuses. ETA: the simple answer would be because that's what it costs.

Exactly. Nobody can say they are a fiscal conservative and vote for the current POTUS.

My company I work for pays 80% now. At the end of Nov, I will not have a job. I will have to buy COBRA for 6 months till I can get on Medicare. Then, I will have to buy other insurance to help pay what Medicare doesn't pay no matter what! I'm listed 1B for a heart transplant. I'm only 54 years old. No other insurance company would touch me now. My drugs a month cost more then 7K.

That is what we're up against gentlemen. The fact of the matter is there are more people on government programs (disability) than at any other time in our country's history. We can talk about economics, our workforce, globalization, etc but there are FUNDAMENTAL problems in our country... problems that need to be addressed immediately. Exercise your right to vote for reasons other than what the "gubment" gives you.

Without knowing the specifics of the case you reference I cant answer. I would suspect that the employer is probably placing the entire financial burden on the individual or that they are involved in some of the new plans whereby those with chronic illnesses are charged more. There are moral and ethical implications with this that most of us have mixed feelings about. Here's the state of American healthcare in a nutshell. In the current model you have Medicare which serves the elderly population. They paid in and now they are getting care. Private insurers largely handle the middle aged and younger group and some amount of Americans have no care by choice or by other circumstance. Insurance rates are largely determined by simply estimating how much the company will spend plus the profit they wish to make. Presto... you have insurance rates. The problem is that Americans are living longer and chronic diseases like diabetes and obesity are reaching pandemic levels. The amount of money needed to care for a larger and theoretically sicker population has caused insurance rates to skyrocket. Not at the expense of the insurance companies however, as they are recording record profits. The problem looking forward is the baby boomer generation. They are now retiring and becoming eligible for Medicare. There will be a huge number of new Medicare recipients and their care will be more costly than ever. If the system is left unchanged some estimates indicate that 20% or more of America's GDP will be spent on healthcare. In essence, the Boomers will cost the country far more than they put in. The Obamacare model operates on a principle of managing care by applying a results driven model. In short, hospitals would make more money by offering superior service and the population would be given incentives to take better care of themselves. Best practice models would be used to discourage wasteful healthcare spending which is currently estimated at 40% or more of total healthcare dollars. Its all fantastically interesting and if you havent read about the models you really owe it to yourself to check them out. Like most things, neither is perfect for everyone but its clear that something must be done.

Damn this shite is still going on? I held back at risk of sounding like a nut but frick it. Dont know about the rest of yall but I am ready for the war/secession. Nothing will change until then, they are both taking us in the same direction just one is doing it a warp speed. Until everyone realizes this we are just treading water. So until then I will be counting my ammo and cleaning my guns. Ready yourself men, for the time is rapidly approaching. Will you fall by the wayside like wheat under the sickle blade? Stand strong and poised, let the fire in your chest show bright upon the tyrants face that for we are the true holder of the power and in the end are the masters of the dominion. For do not flinch, steady your shutter. Embrace the coldness of the blade and sweet smell of the burning powder. The warmth of your foes blood spilling over your hands, the look of life fleeing their eyes. Freedom, being the furthest thing from free is what propels us to these actions, these necessities. For do not let the sacrifices of our fathers, and our fathers fathers go unsung. Our sabers rattling, our roar deafening. Their smiles and smirks will fade to grimace, for on our hands, their end we carry.

I noticed your explanation doesn't reference Medicaid. This is an honest question, not a flame: Do you know the percentage breakdown on healthcare spending on a federal level when comparing Medicare to Medicaid? In other words what is the level of federal spending annually for each program?
