CW has given them some faith and got it away from that terrible time slot on friday. 
They are given it 3 seasons to end and the writers have a overall storyline to end it and tonight looks to have done a great job.

I saw the one where Lucifer took over Sam and Michael was the other brother and Sam threw himself back in the pit. Is that the season 5 finale? It kinda felt like a series finale.

that was swan song the season 5 finale originally written to be the series finale. chuck narrated the whole episode then at the end this happens
start at around 4 minutes and watch until 4:45

Chuck was only established as a Prophet of the Lord.
If Chuck is God, then Joshua was wrong in that God wasn't going to help them anymore. Remember that Chuck told Dean where the apocalypse fight was going to happen after the big talk about how God was done helping.

Hopefully they show what else was in purgatory besides vampires. Show picked up quick. New character Benny looks to be a great add

there is an argument that Chuck was Kripke's in-universe avatar which is concurrent with being "god: in regards to Supernatural.
Making Chuck the "god" seems poorly planned and goes against the great bulk of the evidence and plot. So all the times we see Chuck in pain from his visions are just lies to the viewer? We keep getting told that God is reluctant to get involved; does that really describe Chuck?
You gotta admit that if Chuck is god, there are some big questions regarding what was shown.

I liked Chuck and think if he was God they could have done a lot more with him. Seems like they would have just come out and said it if it were true.

Yeah most of the season is flashbacks to different characters in Purgatory and different enemies throughout his stay. I think it will be a great storyline.

They always have a problem when referring to GOD. The writers always don't like talking about that subject because it's such a slippery slope. I'm interested how they will play the whole GOD card. I'm excited for some crazy episodes this year like ala FRENCH MISTAKE

Season 7 recently got added to Netflix so I've been trying to get caught up. Good season, but definitely subpar compared to the rest. The brothers turned into pansies in this season. They get their asses whipped in every episode and only survive due to pure luck or being saved by damn teenage girls. They used to actually kick some ass.
