Tell that to AT&T so the HTC One X can be rooted eh? But but but it's open source? You mean carriers can still lock it down?
The AT&T One X can be rooted and the bootloader can be unlocked.

On the old firmware, not the current 2.2 Firmware. Nice try.

If you are already unlocked and rooted why would you want to unroot and relock to download a factory update Are there not developers in the One X community building ROMs around the new firmware? I mean hell I would think there are even custom Sense ROMs out there. I know there was for the Thunderbolt back in its heyday.

Not really about that, it's about competing with other smartphones on the market. If you go buy a One X now, or have in the past month or so, it comes with the 2.2 firmware which is locked down by AT&T and not rootable. You can brag about Android being open source all day, matters none when the carrier can lock it down, just like the Nexus on Verizon and the One X on AT&T. You have to resort to patience and waiting for an exploit by the hackers in the dev community, just like iPhone owners have to wait for a new jailbreak for iOS 6 while they search for exploits.

my location is pretty spot on, just a few paces off, I'm in one part of a building and it says I'm in another part maybe 3 or 4 rooms away (when using satellite)

You're right Android is completely locked down and not open because of two devices.

If you want to root and unlock then you'll know this and you'll find a phone that someone hasn't updated. You made a blanket statement that the AT&T One X couldn't be rooted and that's not true.

More than 2.

Lol, because a lot of people by carrier locked used phones. You are an idiot. Anyone buying a One X right now can't be rooted, so actually I was correct. And the new HTC One X+ that was just announced, will come with 2.2 stock, there goes another locked down device. Point is, carriers can lock down phones and prevent (for awhile) jailbreaking/rooting. Eventually exploits will be found, and then the carrier will throw out a new firmware fixing it so anyone buying a new one is fricked. shite gets old.

Apple is reaping a mind-blowing 93% margin on iPhone 5 memory
quote:
First, let’s mention that the iPhone 5 costs just as much as its predecessor the iPhone 4S. Prices start at $199 for the 16GB model, and go up to $299 for the 32 gig iPhone and $399 for the 64GB version. That is interesting because those $100 increments do not have anything to do with declining memory prices. While other companies like Amazon now have lowered prices on their models with more memory, Apple continues to go with a $100 premium. What's the gross margin on that? How about 93%. Yes, that's right Apple is selling you a gigabyte of additional memory for $6.25, while it buys it for merely $0.42.

You'll be able to find a 64gb. 32gb is possible but less likely. 16gb is probably going to be backordered.

My iphone deal is this: Reception sucks. My BB was hands down a better phone. Better reception, fewer drops, etc. I can't even really use my iPhone inside my house or in buildings. It goes to one bar of service and drops calls all day long, even when i am in the middle of town or on an interstate with cell towers all over the place. Anyone else?

After two weeks with the iPhone 5, here is my review: The iPhone 5 has only one drawback. Moving the antenna back in side the phone has made the iPhone 5 much worse at picking up AT&T in neglected service areas. I am in the unique position of having a job that allows me to go across various areas both rural and urban. Ironically, the iPhone 4 with the falsely hyped Antennagate deal was magnificent in giving me bars on my 4 where I was No Service on the 3Gs. If you are on AT&T and exist in low service areas, the iPhone 5 will be a disaster for you. Out side of that, this phone is amazing. The hype regarding bad maps is as ridiculous as the antenna gate scandal. I have used Apple maps at work for two weeks, and it has done nothing other then take me directly to where I was going regardless of how far into BFE it was. I used Siri turn by turn on a trip out of town last weekend going to places where I had no clue where I was going and it was a magnificent experience. Turn by turn on Apple maps was precise and I had no issues regardless of where I was trying to go. The iPhone 5 is incredibly fast. It is so fast that when I hit an app that used to take a few seconds or even 30 seconds to load now loads so fast that it seems like It knew that I was about to touch it. The antenna on the iPhone 5 does not pick up AT&T's weak arse service. That is the only negative thing I can say about it.
