That would make sense if we played a running QB sometime soon...
I mean the only running QBs on our schedule are Vick in 4 weeks, Newton in 12 weeks(and lol at Wallace simulating Newton). Maybe the 49ers in 7 weeks with Smith/Kaepernick count as a running QB team.
I doubt Wallace is a better scout QB for Rivers, Freeman, and Manning than Daniel.

I can't see what the reason is for this unless they see something in practice to indicate Daniel is struggling and they need assurance if Brees goes down but at 0-4 I dont see how bringing in someone who doesnt know the system over someone who has been here multiple years and has shown some success in pre-season.

It's common just to have guys in to get to know them and see where they are at.
Reasoning could range from:
-just in case, we know we don't ever wanna see Canfield in a real game
-Daniel is a UFA next year, he's at $1mil now, possible change at backup in the future
-he's a cool gadget player to have, can run, throw, catch, and plays on special teams

I dont think Daniel as trade bait, what team out there is going to trade for him at this point in the season? Jets? Tebow. Jacksonvile? They are looking for a quick fix its going to be a big FA name not an unproven back-up. I just dont see any team giving anything up for him right now especially when he's a FA this offseason.
