Will be months and months before there is a jailbreak out, and highly unlikely there is one this year for the iPhone 5 or even just iOS 6 in general.

Try weeks, they have already jailbroken the iphone 5, just working out the tweaks for mass comsumption. iOS6 was jailbroken during beta, so just given em a few more weeks to push it out to everyone.

re: One iPhone thread to rule them all -- post all iPhone discussions here.

Just got a call from Radio Shack saying they had one in for me (Black/32GB). I wanted the 16GB but I bit the bullet since I can't wait any longer, my current phone blows.

Figure for $100 more I get double the space so I can load all my songs, essentally becoming my new ipod. Plus this would be my first iPhone.

Anyone else rolling with a 32GB model?

No, the A6 is nowhere near jailbroken. In fact, there is no current exploit for iOS 6 on any device.

You might get a jailbreak on the A5X chip this year, but highly unlikely on the A6, and the Chronic Dev Team generally likes to release one program for all devices, so if the A5X jailbreak is done, it likely still wouldn't be released until the A6 was also ready. If you are jailbroken, you didn't update to iOS 6 on your A5 device for this reason.

It will be similar to the iPhone 4S, which was about 7 months and launched in May.

re: One iPhone thread to rule them all -- post all iPhone discussions here.

Developer jailbreak bruh.

Totally different.

You must have missed the Jailbreak Developers Conference this weekend huh? I'll quote some info for you since you are out of the loop with how this process works.

quote:

The popular iOS hacker, pod2g, who recently took the stage at JailbreakCon to discuss jailbreak techniques past and present along with the future of iOS jailbreaking revealed news that will disappoint many. Pod2g revealed that there is currently no working untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.

quote:

Now this might leave many of you wondering what happened to the previous picture we saw of an iPhone 5 running Cydia. According to pod2g, what we saw was proof of what he called a “failbreak,” which he defined as being something for developers only with no possible way to release the method to the public in its current state. To put it into simpler terms, there is no iOS 6 jailbreak for regular iOS device owners at the moment.

quote:

Although there is no concrete news of an iOS 6 jailbreak just yet, this doesn’t exactly mean we won’t be seeing one ever. It just means that we’ll need to be patient and should not expect it to be released for at least a few months.

Now you know. You're welcome.

I will give you that I didn't realize his scheduled had been revised to months, but let's relook at what my original quote....

quote:

The iphone 5 has been jailbroken, but only for developers and they have to work out issues with such as apple apps working correctly, etc for mass consumption... Besides the months, how was my original statement wrong?

iOS6 has been jailbroken in beta several times including in the most recent beta 4 with Cydia working.

Reading comprehension works wonders...

Because a failbreak is not a jailbreak, like Pod2G said, "Pod2g revealed that there is currently no working untethered jailbreak for iOS 6".

quote:

Sure has, on non A6 devices. You said iPhone 5, which has no jailbreak, it has a failbreak, which is not a jailbreak. It is not able to be coded into a program and a simple click, jailbreak, reboot, done. Not how it works, the Dev Team has yet to find any exploit inside iOS 6 that will enable them to code a program to patch the kernal and install a rocky racoon equivalent.

quote:

Reading comprehension works wonders...

Yes it does, you should try it sometime instead of looking like an idiot to a Cydia developer.

Once again, I will repeat Pod2G for you, there is no working iOS 6 jailbreak/exploit that would allow for a public release. The failbreak for developers is not an exploit that can be used to jailbreak a device in a program such as redsn0w. The Dev Team is currently spending all of their time trying to find an exploit within iOS 6, which will take months. Then after that, expect a few more months in order to create the program, beta test it, and get the apps/Cydia up and running flawlessly.

Like I said, HIGHLY unlikely the iPhone 5 will see a jailbreak this year, just like the 4S, it will be a few months into 2013. There is a chance the non A6 devices see one, but doubtful. If they do, it will likely be tethered.

First time I've looked at this thread... only read you and UltimateHog's last few posts and replies to each other. That being said...

What about this post on Greenpois0n's website?

quote:

To jailbreak your iPhone 3GS/4S/5 (running iOS 6 or either iPhone 4S/5 version of 6**) and/or your iPad 2 / iPad 3 (all Wi-Fi only, GSM & CDMA devices supported; must be running iOS 6**) – select one of the links below to download your Absinthe A5/A6 untethered jailbreak. Simply unzip the file, then install on your iOS A5/A6 mobile device with one click of a button!

quote:

**NOTE: If you haven’t yet heeded the advice I gave weeks ago – before you take one step further, upgrade your firmware to iOS 6 NOW! (Unless you need an iPhone5 Unlock) Also, we don’t mean to beat you over the head with this warning, but please remember: you should not update to iOS 6.0.1 when it’s released, or you will lose your jailbreak! Bookmark our GreenPois0n blog now, and be the first to know the next time we advise our jailbreak users to safely update their iOS firmware.

I'm not saying either of you are wrong, just wondering how that fits into what you two have been talking about.

There is a fake greenpoison and a real greenpoison, if you successfully jailbroke your device, you used the real one and are clear.

If you have AnitVirus downloading the fake one will pop up as a trojan so that should tell you enough right there.

He said "untethered" jailbreak. Jailbreaking tethered is still jailbreaking, dumbass.

They were able to get cydia loaded and working, that's jailbreak. Yes, it's for developers because a ton of other stock shite doesn't work when they do it this way. Which is why they got to tweak it.

Reading comprehension thing again...

No, it's called a failbreak. Again, not the same thing. You really have no clue what you are talking about please stop.

quote:

Yes, it's for developers because a ton of other stock shite doesn't work when they do it this way. Which is why they got to tweak it.

NO. How many times do I have to tell you no? That has NOTHING to do with it. There is no fricking tweaking to be done, a failbreak is not possible for a public release, PERIOD, no tweaking, no "Stock shite doesn't work". I am a fricking developer for the 2nd time, stop misleading people in this thread.

You are only calling it that cause you quoted fricking Cyril.

Grant is still pursuing it, but has to find other exploits to get it to fully work.... AKA tweaking
