Go see it!! Well acted, great plot, and overall just badass. I will be shocked if it doesn't win an Oscar.

I think one of the Lord of the Rings movies won best picture also
Maybe that could be considered action as well

I wouldn't consider those action movies. Action movies have very thin plots. Both these plus looper have very deep plots.

the ONLY movie on that list that can really be viewed as an action movie is Gladiator IMO
