I once heard a DJ pronounce her name as "Bonnie Riot" Can you hear a Scotchman telling the story? "Aye laddie, we had a bonnie riot today..." Her father was a star of Broadway musicals: LINK

I was a reluctant fan of hers when I was younger and thought she did not fit the image of an artist I should admire. Now that I am older, I am an accepting fan and enjoy her music a lot.

I can remember from when I was in High School that she had released a song and the music video had actor Dennis Quaid in it and he flirted with her throughout the video. I can't recall the name of it now. It was like late 80's. She seemed old to me even back then. It's good she is still out there rockin' though.

I like her bluesy stuff from the 70's and early 80's a LOT. It's great music to listen to and relax calming and she has a great voice and is a great slide player.

I've liked her since seeing her at Jazz Fest in the mid 80's; she did a great set with very few people watching. I don't listen to her a lot by herself, the best music she is in tends to be duets and when she is singing backup. Angel from Montgomery with John Prine is a classic. Some of the songs backing up Little Feat as well. Her choice of songs to play and musicians to collaborate with is pretty solid. She is a lot like Emmylou Harris in that regard. This 1972 jam of Can't Find My Way Home with Lowell George and others is pretty interesting: LINK

First saw her open for Jimmy Buffett at Jazz Fest in the 80's. Great slide guitar player, songwriter. Seen her a few times since. Did an awesome cover of Runaway in the 70's...her first radio hit I believe. This video is from the Midnight Special...remember that, old guys? First slow song I ever danced to with my wife was Too Soon to Tell This song was written by Mike Reid, who's had a great career as a songwriter. He was also a great football player.
quote:
Mike Reid received his degree in music from Penn State University in 1970. But that achievement was considerably overshadowed by his reputation on the football field. At Penn State he was an All-America selection and won the Outland Trophy as the country's outstanding collegiate lineman. He was the first-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals that year and at the end of his first season in the NFL, was named Defensive Rookie Of The Year. Reid's success continued when he was voted NFL All-Pro in 1972 and '73. In spite of these honors, Reid decided he would rather play music than football for a living. He retired from the Bengals and in 1980, moved to Nashville to pursue song writing.
Check out his bio.

Torn between that and I Can't Make You Love Me. But also: (Goin)Wild for You Baby LINK Love Me Like a Man Nobody's Girl Love Has No Pride Early voice is pure, sweet, beautiful and expressive. Later her voice is smoke and whiskey tinged and bluesy. I love any version of Bonnie.
