I've played quite a bit tonight, was online when it went live and got about 60% through 85. I play Horde on Feathermoon, and the server has been absolutely fine all night. Not a ton of lag aside from getting the starting quests - just issues trying to get all the kills with a ton of players in the zone.
A+ so far.

New quest reward thing is cool.. just have to be in the right spec before you turn in the quest.

That and food dropping with buffs have been a pleasant surprise.
The five lines per say in /1 is getting annoying though.

I just started playing around with the pet battles since I have a few rare ones like Grunty. Not too bad, definitely a new way to waste time.

I think the game is designed to go max out at 100.. so 2 more expansions after this. AKA - LOTS OF $$$$$

My server just had it's first 90 paladin.. not sure how many 90's total but god that's fast.

It's just my gut feeling, but I don't think they'll shut down WoW for a long time. I went to Blizcon a few years ago for the LK announcement, and asked about expansion specific servers, where the level caps would be lowered and people could go back to those rulesets after everything is done - got a big ol' "SSSSSSHHHHH" for that by Chris Metzen.
