I'm starting a little early because I know some of you boys are night owls.
So we're discussing this week the first four chapters in GoT: Prologue, Bran I, Catelyn I, Daenerys I Prologue Summary Bran I Summary Catelyn I Summary Daenerys I Summary
Prologue: One of the questions I always have after reading this (fricking awesome opening BTW) is do the wights and Others bring the Winter or does the Winter bring the Others and the wights?
Prologue, P. 13
Answer me! Why is it so cold?” It was cold. Shivering, Will clung more tightly to his perch. His face pressed hard against the trunk of the sentinel. He could feel the sweet, sticky sap on his cheek
My next one question is can Sir Waymar Royce still be "alive" as a wight? We see at the end of the Prologue that he is killing Will. But you only get mention of him later on. And of course George RR Martin goes into great detail about his wardrobe in multiple places during the Prologue. Most specifically on p. 7:
His cloak was his crowning glory; sable, thick and black and soft as sin
Of course Martin could describe the texture of a pear for 5 pages so it could just be grasping. I just find it interesting that he's described as he is. I can't help but feel like we'll come across him later.
And of course for those who enjoy the show, I can't help but share the show's portrayal of the Prologue because it's what immediately drew me in. LINK
