Yeah, a shitload of wealthy French people escaped to England after the tax hike was announced. Wish I could find the article, but it was an interview with a prominent English real estate agent saying that he was getting flooded with calls from the French.

Institute the cuts first. Then we can consider increasing taxes. I'm talking about instantaneous cuts too. Not some of these "reduction over 10 year" deals.
Until they actually make the cuts, I won't trust them with another penny.

People bitch about Obama's relatively modest plan to just let the bush tax cuts expire on upper incomes, yet we are heading towards a drastic frick the wealthy in the arse and make them bleed like some European countries.
Nothing is modest about taking more of what people earn. We don't have a tax revenue problem, we have a spending problem.

That's because we do not have a revenue problem, we have a SPENDING PROBLEM!
There are entirely too many useless govt programs, fed govt jobs, individuals getting huge tax returns that don't pay taxes, and foreign aid. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but you get the gist. I'll even go for auditing the defense budget with a fine tooth comb. I'm sure there is frivolous spending there.
I guarantee you that there is plenty of spending to be cut that would kill the need for a hike in taxes

Spot on infantry. You take each department, one at a time and start cutting the BS from each. We could probably balance the budget, just from cutting the waste and fraud in medicare and medicade. I will even agree to defense cuts as well and I am very conservative. As a retired vet, we had more than enough equipment throughout our deployment and while in country. It is time to put politics aside and get our fiscal house in order, or everyone will suffer.
