They sense the weakness in our current administration and will continue to push the envelope until we smack them down. Attack and kill our folks without consequences and it will happen over and over.

Those Muslims in the streets who invaded our embassy in Egypt are just the extremists. Isn't that what we'll be told? Well I can't tell them apart from the "good" Muslims who were protesting the Mubarek government, and neither can Obama because they are the same people.
And the Muslims in Libya who killed our consul are the same people we sent our military to support when they wanted to get rid of Gaddafi.
How do two separate communities spontaneously react violently to an event, holding an innocent third party responsible? They are obviously being given information from a source that is misleading them or intentionally stirring them up. And what is the common denominator among those communities? It is the beliefs of the men they look to for religious guidance.
Either those men are extremists who must be identified and ex-communicated by the "good" Muslims, or they are mainstream Muslims. Since the "good" Muslims haven't ostracised them, the only valid conclusion left is that they are mainstream Muslims. In which case, mainstream Islam has declared ideological war on the United States and its people.

This is a platitude. What is Islam? Of course America is neutral regarding religion. However, the currently dominant discourse within the greater Sunni sphere of politically active Islam is very much our enemy now. You may deny it all you wish, but that will not make it false.
