| Don't know if yall know this but Craig Victor has joined St. Aug's football team (Posted on 9/3/12 at 12:44 am)
He might be the next Jimmy Graham. Might end up being a LSU TE recruit for the 2014 class LINK
quote:
Victor said he was timed in the 40 at 4.6 seconds in the summer of 2011 by a personal trainer and had a measured vertical leap of 36 inches this past summer while participating in the prestigious Adidas Nations Global basketball camp. He said he last played organized football at the recreation department level at age 9 and 10 when he was a quarterback.
Go get him Les!!!!

I don't ever see him giving up basketball. If he has success, he'll play both sports.

Thanks for the link.

(Former LSU cornerback) Jai Eugene is a cousin on my grandmother’s side of the family. I grew up around Jordan Jefferson. I grew up watching Jordan and Jai play football.’’
That's quite a bloodline.

If he becomes a legit football recruit too, that would probaby make it more likely he comes to LSU.

Yeah and his dad was an elite player while at Destrehan back in his day. I think he picked the wrong sport to play in college (basketball). He should've stayed with football. I remember seeing him play when I was little and he was like Mike Vick before there was a Mike Vick

He's yet another that will eventually have to stick to one sport in college.

Saw that in the TP this morning. 6'8 with a 36" vertical is going to be difficult for most teams to deal with.

I hope it works out well for him & St. Aug, but I think this is a terrible decision. He is risking his future. If & IF he gets hurt he will regret it for what "could have been". Good luck and I wish him well (Saftey!)

He can get hurt in basketball too. If that's something he wants to do, he should go for it and not have any regrets later in life. Playing sports you can't live your life trying to mitigate injury risks. I'm actually excited to see what he'll be able to do on the field.

LSU football does not need a two sporter and LSU basketball definitely does not need it either..... Cyril Crutchfield's cross grazing, will not be to LSU's benefit, if indeed this kid "even thinks" he can play TWO.... PS...Two sporters are GONE WITH THE WIND!!! But we can pretend, then they realize on their own, to focus on one or the other.....it is too demanding and their bodies cannot hold up under such stressful demands...does not make sense....

You are reading way too much into this. His sport is definitely basketball, but he wanted to play football too in high school. There's no reason why he shouldn't enjoy himself while in high school. He's already established himself on the national scene as an elite high school player and is being recruited by major programs nationally. Let him have his fun scoring TDs over 5'10" safeties and LBs

spencer ware plays baseball and chad jones and another wide out on that team played baseba,,,so why he can't play 2 sports, this is the era of 2 sports, parents are letting their kids play multiple sports while they are young and these days they are panning out to be successful in both multi sports,LSU needs all the talent we can find

Football/baseball is much less taxing on the body compared to football/basketball

Sydie London did it and fared good... Anyway, kudos to Victor today on making those big catches... Had some drops, but that was expected with limited preparation...

I've seen him listed between 6-7 and 6-9. The 6-9 was more recent. Not sure if that was inflated or he grew a couple of inches in the past year, which is certainly possible. A 36-inch vertical to go with his height sure is nice.

I came across some highlights of Victor for anyone interested. Somebody did a good job putting these videos together. Had me laughing with the slo mo and sound effects. He's #82. Pretty easy to spot. Looks raw, not real physical, but shows some potential catching passes. vs MCD35 Makes a catch at 2:53 & a TD catch at 5:10. Would have liked to see him drive that corner into the end zone at 3:00. vs Br. Martin TD catch at 2:00. vs Rummel At 6:08 he mistimes his jump, results in a pick six for Rummel.
