Dempsey moved to Spurs ( ) where he will be making BANK. Like, 7.4 million dollars a year, the highest ever for an American.
If Boyd keeps playing like this some German club is going to blow that number out of the water.

I wonder if Jermaine Jones is the solution to our lack of real depth at wing

Boyd is a poacher/finisher, if I've ever seen one. Does his work around the six yard box. Dempsey-------Boyd--------Altidore Is what I'm really hoping to see this week.

First goal was beautiful...notice how he ghosts his run by moving when the defender is getting his bearings...what a great prospect

You really see his poacher's instincts on those goals, especially the first one where his movement and timing is great. Not sure Dempsey really works outside. We would need some speed there which is why Landon (or even Gomez) would get the call there, with Dempsey sitting in the hole.

I think Dempsey works out left, because he loves to tuck inside. Opens up a lot of space for Fabian Johnson to do work down the left flank.

You might have a point there. I do like Deuce as the CAM in the 4-2-3-1 though.

Thanks for the link Dandy. Hope Gooch can get his career back on track at Malaga.

I loved me some Gooch back in the day. I unfortunately think he's already around the bend.

The patellar tendon tear in the Costa Rica qualifier in 2009 killed his career. He never was the most mobile centerback in the first place. After that injury, he never looked comfortable tracking back or closing down while defending.

He is a goal machine. Best inside the box since McBride? Maybe.

Great comparison, very similar players. Big, Athletic, deceiving amount of skill. Seriously, and I don't make statements like this lightly, Boyd may have a higher ceiling.

We shall see. He and Altidore up top are a serious handful for any two center halfs. Missing Bradley is going to hurt on Friday, but I am confident.
