Democratic pollster - Obama: the most negative campaigner in Oval Office history

quote:

"Let me tell you what's really bad, Sean. The president is running the real risk, every time you keep lowering the standard, breaking tradition -- this is Chicago politics. We don't care, we are going to disrupt your convention. For all the times we have had conventions, we have honored the idea in politics, you have yours, we have ours; then we engage a campaign. They're taking down all of this, just like the president's campaign; he has been the most negative personal campaigner in the oval office -- ever, ever,"

This really is something to worry about for the Obama campaign. Haven't past studies shown that highly negative campaigns tend to have a negative effect, not on the opponent, but the campaigner?

It was pretty much accepted as fact that obama would have to rely on negative attacks rather than emphasizing positive accomplishments this election. He's doing what we all knew he would do.

Inevitable consequence of not being able to run on your record.

He only has two plays in the play book.

1) FEAR

2) SMEAR

Rinse, repeat.

In his first campaign in 2008, he started this by being the first since its inception, to not take the public funds because it would have limited him. I said then that Obama was going to damage the dem party more than anyone in its history.

Probably. I know when the first old lady and I use to have an argument, when I realized I was slowly losing the argument I'd try to divert the argument by saying things like "OH YEAH, well your momma wears combat boots and your daddy eats boogers".

My record over 14 years, 3-37. She fired me after 15 years of togetherness.

Pulitzer Prize winning Politifact says Mr. Caddell is full of shit, and that Romney is FOUR TIMES AS LIKELY to commit "liar, liar, pants on fire" lies:

The same Politifact that says multiple broken Obama promises are "in the works" or "stalled?" Color me not impressed.

Politifact is an opinionated source that uses human "opinions" to give statements a classification of one of many varying degrees of lying.

I don't consider their opinions to be very worthwhile.

I think it's pretty clear that Romney's campaign is almost entirely based on lies... the $716 Medicare lie... the "you didn't build that" lie... not to mention his exhausting list of flip-flops for the sake of winning the presidency at any cost.

Why doesn't he run on his record as Massachusetts governor? Or his Bain record?

Sure, Romney has definitely mischaracterized that as a negative. He is trying to separate the Democrats from their base.

The funny thing is that what the Romney campaign has done, is that they are able to state that without actually lying. I find it quite funny.

As we all know, the reduction in reimbursement to doctors through Medicare has freed up that large sum of money. By transferring that money to ACA, they are able to state that $716 billion was removed/cut from Medicare. Was that sum of money removed from Medicare? Yes, but by not stating how it was removed, Romney is able to make Obama appear as if he cut Medicare.

Quite a smart tactic.

the "you didn't build that" lie..
This is just playing up a mis-quote of Obama. The Republicans have motivated their base by repeating only that section. Sure it is dishonest, but that is a tactic that Obama's campaign has used this election as well. Both are definitely at fault for this one.

One person's flip-flop is another person's "evolution."
quote:

I'm actually not sure. I don't know much, if anything about his time as governor, beyond his creation of Romney-care.
quote:

Or his Bain record?
He did run on this. Problems started arising when Obama's campaign started painting Bain as the "evil corporation which destroyed jobs," and much like how Romney is portraying the Medicare cuts, every positive that Bain did is completely ignored.

This whole political process involves smearing the other side. It is sad that this is what it has come to, but it is the fault of the electorate.

My problem with Politifact is that they do appear to be more lenient with the Obama Administration than others. Obama's comments are often painted as only "half-truths" or "half-lies." Some have even gone so far as to put "on hold" as the classification.

I don't consider an organization that does that to be bi-partisan.

What has he specifically boasted about? Romneycare? 47th in the country in job growth?

Only thing he claims is he' balanced the budget' when all states are required to have balanced budgets.

Romney is never really specific on most anything.

re: Democratic pollster - Obama: the most negative campaigner in Oval Office history
Has Romney ever ran a sucessfu business? What has Obama ever done without the help of the government? Hell his mom probably had government help while birthing him. We need a person who at least has a clue on what it takes to be successful business owner in the private sector.Because Rex,when it comes down to it,unless we can grow private business ,government money (our tax dollars) and jobs will continue to disappear. So either we get Romney in now and have a chance without making real deep cuts,or we have 4 more years of Obama and we get a conservative ad Potus who will have to be an adult and make severe ,very deep de cuts that will hurt the entitlement crowd profoundly.so pick your poison Rex.
