While normally we would appreciate it, you would have had to be here during the Brees fiasco. Everyweek, there was a new rumor thread posted about when he would sign. They all had sources. a friend of mine who works in the saints facility gave me a head's up. He said Benson has talked to members in the office, that not if, but when Payton returns he wants things in order. Then he went on his trip to NYC...
Like I said, take it for what it is worth. I will get a chance to talk to him again early next week when we go play golf.

if any of you guys know anyone in the organization, ask them if Benson did not address the return of Payton either through email or through an informal announcement. I am telling you, my buddy wouldn't mess with my emotions and I have nothing to gain posting silly shite on a message board.

I have no clue when something would be announced, but I would suspect it will coincide with this Vilma thing and with Freeh's report. I would also think it would happen before the beginning of the season, but all of that is pure conjecture.

why else would the old man fly to NYC? He didn't go there just to hang out. He went there because he has something that is going to force the hand of the NFL. They are in damage control right now, and the old man has something that may provide the tipping point. This very well could have been a courtesy to share what has been unearthed.
again all conjecture, but think about it. I cannot think of too many other scenarios that make sense. Couple that with Benson's comments to Payton during the HOF game, the hanging of the picture, his comments about how he feels about the league office. That old bastard didn't get where he is today by approaching deals without leverage.
