Well, I am 100 percent convinced that it wasn't an accident that he waited to announce the first punishment until 5 minutes after the Tebow trade went down. Bury the lead. Everybody blew off the story for a week until after Tebow's first press conference, and by then Goodell had firm control of the issue and the talking points.
Remember, this is the same guy who didn't announce the player suspensions were upheld until like 4:30 ET the day before July 4 so that that story would get buried too.
Everything Goodell does is PR hack calculated.

Take it for what it is worth, but the rumor is that the suspensions will be significantly reduced in light of new evidence provided by the Freeh investigation. I believe this to be fairly accurate, but do not have a way to verify its accuracy without divulging who it came from.
