The whole thing was hilarious, but wonder if the guy ends up getting off because the recorded confession will likely not get admitted in court since Washington is a two party state for recording conversations.

I don't think that applies to face to face conversations. If that were the case, the FBI would never be able to put a wire on someone in a sting situation. But hey, you're the lawyer.

Silly newb lawyer...first, statute says you can't record a "private conversation" (plus he clearly knew he was being recorded and has no "reasonable expectation of privacy")...second, the recording is consented to, where consent is necessary, where the recording party announces "in any reasonably effective manner" that he is recording - I would think shoving a camera in the guys face is pretty effective...third, they have enough shite on this guy (craigslist posts, text messages, phone records, bike serial number and identification, etc) that they don't even need the confession.
All of that said, he will cop a plea and get 12 months probation.

Yes. But first you have to take a course called "Citizens on Patrol." The Commandant is a screwball but there's one instructor with a ridiculous rack.
