I haven't completely crossed into forever alone status, so I only have one monitor at the moment.

We have VERY similar builds. same cpu, basically same MOBO, same memory, PSU, and cooler. My only suggestion would be to go with a Blu ray burner/player instead of just a dvd. You can get them pretty cheap now.

This. I've only been above 42deg C once and I'm running at about 4.6. Still don't know what that guy is talking about

thanks for the pic blue. any reason why you mounted your 212 in the horizontal orientation? It seems like you could've mounted it vertically and added another fan to the 212 for push/pull. Does the 212 cool pretty well at that price point? What do you have mounted in that other PCI slot? I may go with the antec 900 like head change. Looks like the 300 plus a little better cable mgmt and larger fans. Back to another question I had earlier. Do yall just use HDTVs for monitors or do you insist on gaming monitors?

I thought about this for a solid 2 weeks before finally just getting some sale HD monitors for $145 each. The TV's were just too expensive and didn't have all of the features that the monitors did. I ended up going with 2 samsung LED 22.5" monitors for $145 each on sale at newegg.

I honestly don't need the extra fan. I haven't OC'd yet so at its hottest it only gets to 30 degrees. I have 5 total fans in the case, 3 the pushing air in and 2 exhausting

I am toying with a new build, want to stay under $1100 or so, didn't want to make another new thread on basically a similar topic. Intel i5 Ivy Bridge 3.4ghz cpu Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H mobo XFX Radeon 7850 2GB gfx card Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 RAM Kingston HyperX 90GB SSD Seagate Baracuda 1TB HDD Corsair 750W power supply Cooler Master Case Basically my big considerations are: -Should I stick with that Ivy Bridge CPU or go to a Sandy. My inclination is to stick with Ivy. I'm not a big overclocker to begin with. -Should I stick to the Radeon 7850 or go with a 7870 graphics card for a little more. I'll look into the Samsung RAM like the one poster was saying. But in general I've used Corsair stuff and have never had a problem. I pretty much just picked this set of RAM without much research so could change it there. Case is whatever...I may be getting too old for all the lights and shite and this case was recommended to me. ETA: What do people think of ASRock motherboards? They're a new player to the game since my last build so I don't know much on them.

Not too familiar with CPUs, but the 7850 should give you more than enough graphics power

If you arent overclocking, get the 2500k or one of the none k ones. And you can put that money to something else. I have an asrock z77 pro4 motherboard and I like it

question about fan control. On the antec 900 the 4 chasis fans are all have internal controllers. My cooler master 212 evo has one fan and I am adding a second to push/pull. I spots on my mobo for all the fans. Assuming all the connections work, will I be able to control all of the fan speeds from my desktop? Or would I be better off investing in a fan controller like this one I know I am over thinking this whole cooling thing, but it is my first build and I just don't want to frick it up.

I know you can control them from the bios, but I just hooked mine straight up to the power supply so they run whenever it's on. I didn't know where to put my two antec case fan controllers so I put them on medium and left the controller thing in the case

I have owned 2 ASRock boards. Great boards. My main build currently has a ASRock Z77 Extreme6 with no issues. You built your last PC before 2002? ASRock has been around since 2002 and in the mainstream since 2005.

Not sure..I have the sabertooth Z77 and it came with a nice monitor program. One of the features is that can control any fans hooked up to the MOBO via a slider or a set % per temp. I would assum that any of the ASUS motherboards would come with a similar program?

that mobo is tempting at 30 dollars cheaper than the asus i picked, but I like the idea of built in wifi.

I would either go with Samsung or Patriot RAM. Although RAM is RAM these days.
