I really wish Akira Toriyama would decide to make a movie showing how he died. Pikkon was very powerful...I wonder who killed him?

He almost matched Goku as a Full-Power Super Saiyan, so at that point in time he was the 3rd strongest character in DBZ, behind Gohan and Goku. Pikkon kind of reminded me of a Namek, as he used weighted clothes and he was green. Majin Buu kicked his arse though.
ETA: But remember he wasn't nearly as powerful when he was killed. It was implied that he had been there awhile training hard to become the strongest fighter in the Other World.

Yeah that's true, but he had to be pretty strong to begin with. He had to be a special fighter to be able to keep his body and fight in the Other World Tournament.

They said he kept his body after dying a heroic death. I think that they said he was near Frieza's strength, or defeated enemies as strong as Frieza.
The thing is, Saiyans got more powerful at an extreme rate and I would venture to say that Pikkon went at a much slower, normal rate. So Pikkon was very powerful when he died and would definitely have had an interesting death.
