That student is more qualified to be the teacher than the teacher.
Nice learning environment there. That teacher should be fired immediately. The student humiliated her in that "debate."

prime example of why you need to get your kids out of the public school system. if you can't then get to know their teachers.

I don't know what's more sad, the fact that the teacher made it through college or that those kids have to listen to that bull shite.

remove politics, and i used to do this shite all the time to teachers in high school
and i'll defend her and say that her heightened emotional response is likely based in a loooong history of being fricked with. i'm not excusing her behavior, but we only get to see 10 minutes of this when there is likely hours of exchanges between them

this reminded me of 'God is real' debates an atheist classmate used to have with my 8th grade religion teacher. she was a 50-60 year old house mom so you could imagine how those went.

That entire classroom environment is disturbing.
Not only the ignorance of the teacher, but the lack of discipline and all the talking and cursing, the lack of respect for the teacher (even if she's unworthy, the kids should still exercise it), and a student threatening to call his dad because he disagrees with the teacher?
There was no intellectual structure to that place at all.
Losing all around in that classroom.

I don't care about the history of her being messed with. A thousand hours of disrespect from a child doesn't justify a single second of political bias in the classroom as far as I'm concerned. These are two different kinds of wrongs and the former sure as hell doesn't justify the latter.
Clearly she is severely emotionally attached to this issue, as are most educators who find themselves in these predicaments. I think a lack of bias inside the four walls of purity we call the classroom should be given greater emphasis in the education curriculum. But I guess that would require a bunch of biased academicians to put their biases aside
