I've seen this from time to time with CNN. On one hand they are very much pro-left. On the other hand you'll see a host break from the narrative and it typically results in this kind of shock from the guest.
See: Piers Morgan vs Toure ( I can't stand Piers, either), Brooke Baldwin vs Corrine Brown and now this.

Anderson cooper had a person from moveon.org on to explain their charge that republicans push to cut certain health care funding was "war on women" but the exact same cuts were proposed a few months earlier by Obama. So lots of back and forth of anderson challenging moveon's made up stats. Finally the question was does Obama have a war against women as well if he supports this? The answer: No, of course not. Just republicans.
