The GOP needs this fight in my opinion. Romney has EVERY advantage and still cannot close this thing out. The average voter does not want him and who can blame them. Nobody trust him! If the party gets to a brokered convention and Jeb, Daniels or Christie are the nominee then 90% of the party will jump on board.
Romney, Santorum and Newt are ALL polling @ 14% with Hispanics. Obama is at 53% with women while Romney is 37%. Independents have an unfavorable overall negative view of all the GOP candidates. My point is this has become the worst campaign in memory and Obama has not even started on the nominee. The GOP is treading on a 5-8% loss and may not pick up the Senate or could even lose the House. That's how bad these candidates look to Hispanics, Women and Independents.
Agree that the candidates are pretty shoddy, but it's too late for anyone to jump in. If they or their supporters thought they were hot shit, they should have had the balls to get in before now. Unles someone truly phenomenal is nominated, the borkered solultion will burn at least a good number of the enthusiastic supporters and big money doners of the guys who actually put it on the line and ran.
And, for the last time, I like Jeb and think he would have made a better president than his older brother. I liked President GWB as a person, but honestly think he was a pretty bad president. I like George H.W. Bush and can tell you that he is terribly underrated and that most republicans would kill to have someone of his calibre running.
But there will not be another Bush president anytime soon. Probably not in our lifetimes. GWB really turned a lot of people off, and the idea of three presidents from one immediate family potentially occupying the Oval Office for 20 of the last 32 years (by 2021) will probably be pretty unappealling to most people.
