Yep. I am not defending Sanchez' abilities or saying that our hitting could not improve, but I do think that the main reason we lost so many games last year was pitching. Many people have the opposite impression, however. The stats are clear though.

Last year was a mixture of a lot of things. As much as I hate to say it, the baseball gods didn't look in our favor last year.
Overall record was ok, but we all know not making the SEC tournament killed us. Here is a refresher overall:
Record: 36-20 SEC: 13-17
What killed us in the SEC. How did we go 13-17? What if we would have won 3 of the 6 defining games listed below?
Momentum killer in my opinon, 1st series: ***FLORIDA Game 1 L 4-5; Ott can't hold it ***FLORIDA Game 2 L 0-1; Gausman lights out, loses after giving up only 5 hits.
Heart breaker series in my opinion? ***Arkansas Game 1 L 0-2; McCune loses close game ***Arkansas Game 2 L 3-4; Berry offers flowers to Arkansas instead of his normal junk. Arkansas Game 3 L 4-5; Ott can't hold on...
Dagger to the heart and closes the door on our season? at Mississippi State Game 2 L 5-6; Ott can't hold in what should have been a sure save and sure victory.....

People have the Friday night Arkansas game ingrained into their memory where we left 8 on base in the first three innings and lost 2-0. We were very bad at times with RISP but it evened out and we ended up middle of the pack.
