Charity Spotlight: Support Bridge House and Grace House of New Orleans

Dear TigerDroppings Users:

I would like to share some passages from a letter recently received from the mother of a graduate of the Grace House Program for women:

Dear Ms. Pedersen:

I wanted to take the time to write a sincere “Thank-You” to Bridge House / Grace House and the staff at Grace House / Delachaise. I’ve been meaning to do this for quite some time now. Thanks to Grace House, I have my beautiful 28 year old daughter alive and well today...

In 2003 my daughter was a bright beautiful college student with a 3.7 GPA. She was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder and was prescribed Xanax. Her story began… from there to pain killers, pills of any kind and eventually heroin…

Over a period of years I went through more than half of my 401K seeking treatment for my daughter who happens to be my only child. I would have given up everything I have to get her the help she needed, but to no avail, nothing seemed to work...

Between 2003 and 2010 my daughter overdosed and was hospitalized a total of 8 times. Three of those she was placed on a ventilator and very near death. I had already buried her in my mind, planned her funeral and knew that it was just a matter of time. I had to accept the fact that I could not fix her...

When she was court mandated to treatment at Grace House she had to sit in jail to wait for a bed. I did not have a lot of faith in treatment facilities. After all, I had spent half my retirement already on drug rehabs, in and out of treatment for her...

She completed the program in May of 2011. She has been released from probation and has also had her felony charge expunged. She has been clean and sober for over two years now and continues to work her recovery every day. I am so very proud of her. She is proof that it can be done...

I will be forever grateful to a judge who recognized that addiction can be treated and to Grace House for such a wonderful program and wonderful staff. I am happy to let others know that my charity of choice is Grace House. Because of them, I have my daughter today and I am so very blessed. Thanks just isn’t a big enough word…

Love from one very happy mother!

We are humbled and proud to receive this testimonial from a grateful family member. Please consider a donation to Bridge House / Grace House in support of our efforts to provide treatment to those who may seem hopeless but for whom there is great opportunity for a life free of addiction to alcohol and drugs.

Sincerely,

Else Pedersen LAC, MBA

Great group who has done AMAZING work in helping so many including my best friend. To have an organization in our area like this, who doesn't charge thousands of dollars a month is a pretty big blessing. Thanks to all who help them out.
