Because other than Bama, Auburn and Georgia...the rest of the SEC is crap right now. CBS got spoiled by those inflated TV ratings when there was consistently 6-7 SEC teams ranked at any given time and usually 3-4 in the top 10. There was always good matchups for CBS to pick from. Now, not so much.

The matchups suck, the league is sucking and they cram $1billion worth of commercials into every telecast.

And everyone outside of Tuscaloosa is sick and tired of watching Bama.

Not sure why this is a story they haven't had a decent game on yet

I mean, that IS sort of the story, I'm thinking.

And Auburn and Georgia are just sort of barely decent.

This week should be must see TV. Setting aside the likelihood of a horribly played game in the rain, Florida generally plays games that have wild/close finishes in the end (They are the new "LSU"). We also have the possibility that Orgeron may go full "meathead" this weekend and start challenging coaches/fans to a fight. He's already starting to crack and I don't know how long he can keep up the facade of a mature adult. He's going to revert back to coonass bar brawler any day now if LSU continues to lose. It's in his DNA

I'm mean, both teams are flawed, but in comparison to the college football landscape, they appear as good as anyone except Bama and Clemson.

LSU should be fascinating for those that enjoy schadenfreude. Our coach is a virtual swamp person. Dubbing him with Yosemite Sam or Mr Magoo plus Benny Hill music = network television gold.

Games like this used to be great:

Florida-Georgia
Tennessee-Florida
LSU-Florida
Tennessee-Georgia
Arkansas-Alabama
Auburn-LSU

This year outside of Florida-Georgia and even that is meh because UF is mediocre despite being 3-0 in the conference and ranked.

The 2012 game did a 9.8. If Georgia and Bama/Auburn are in it and it's for a playoff spot, the game will draw similar numbers

If it's Bama Georgia and both teams are ranked in the top 7 or so, it's got a chance.

Iron Bowl doesn't have a chance.

ETA: I didn't mean to quote the SEC championship part of your statement. Meant to focus on the Iron Bowl.

Despite games being somewhat close, Florida is basically unwatchable as a football team.

That Tennessee game was maybe the worst played football game I've seen in a long time. Both QBs had a rating under 45.

A hail mary doesn't save the ineptitude of that toilet bowl - it just means one team was even more pathetic at the end to let a receiver run past their safeties with no time left on the clock.

It's really surprising Florida hasn't had a good QB since Tebow.

Honestly, with only a 4 team playoff, college football is pointless to the majority of fans who watch on TV. If you don't have a shot at the playoff why bother watching?
