*since I dont think I'll be granted access to their board*

Heading there this weekend.

Going with some dudes. Looking to hit up that race track on Friday, what can men wear, I assume its not super dressy? Anything I need to know about the race track?

Any good bars worth going too, restaurants also?

TIA

I wore khaki pants and a button up shirt when I went to the racetrack there and didn't feel out of place. Some were dressed nicer, some worse.

If you have time and are into bourbon, the tours at Buffalo Trace in Frankfort are top notch. Woodford Reserve and Four Roses aren't too far away either.

Didn't get out much in Lexington so no recs there.

ETA: I posted that assuming you were a dude. Girls definitely dress up a LOT more than guys at Keeneland. At least the time I went. Lot of cocktail dresses and such. I don't remember seeing anyone in t-shirts, so a collared shirt is plenty.

Tour was fun. Great time here. I suggest this.

Also, where are you staying? When I went, we stayed downtown at this hotel right across from the basketball arena. There were also bars/restaurants in walking distance to hotel.

I don't remember a lot of bars around the stadium area, but it's been almost 10 years since I was there and we didn't really look for them. There was a decent tailgating scene. We parked pretty close to the stadium and just tailgated at our car. Several Kentucky fans did the same and we talked and shared food and drinks with several of them. They didn't require parking passes then though, so things may be different now.

Come to think of it, I don't think I ever really saw a bar district there. I'm sure there was one, maybe downtown? Stadium is a decent ways from downtown I do remember.

No bars really near the stadium. There are shuttles that run from downtown near Rupp where you'd have better luck finding bars. I'm sure you can find some tailgates that would be hospitable in the lots adjacent to stadium. You can also just park off of Nicholasville Rd. Or Waller Ave. pay $15 and tailgate at your vehicle.

Tony's is a great restaurant if you are looking for a fine meal. $$$$

If you're just doing general admission at Keeneland, you do not have to have a coat. That's only for Clubhouse members and guests.

What about khaki shorts and a polo?

Is there a certain area that has the best tailgating?

I assume you are pretty young so a polo and shorts will work fine. Just know that many people will be dressed up. You won't be kicked out or anything.

Obviously the tailgating is best in permit lots but that doesn't help you unless you just walk up and find some friendlies. If I were you, I'd arrive early as possible and find a pay lot as close to Nicholasville Rd./Alumni as possible and drink my face off in the lot.

What is this "red mile" track about?

Red Mile is a track for trotters, where the jockeys ride in the little carts. In my time in Lexington, never stepped foot in the place. It wouldn't be on my list of things to do.
