His time to step up was over the Summer. He also had 4 quarters to step up against MSU and failed to do so. At some point, you have to realize that this is the top for him and LSU quarterbacks. Put in Brennan, cut our losses, and see if we can't get 2-3 productive years from Brennan.

He didn't...but some want to blame him no matter what. If the bad call isn't made, and recs catch the good throws, he likely goes for 300 last night.

Danny is terrible, regardless of your opinion about last night. Why is every opposing player, opposing coach, and the media doubting LSU? They have all stated that it is because of the pathetic quarterback play. I did not expect the defensive collapse, but I was confident that our offense would suck with Danny. He is terrible against every team with a defensive pulse. I'm sure he is a nice guy and I don't wish anything ill for him, but an injury is the only chance for LSU to thrive offensively. Maybe Brennan is no better, but he damn sure can not be worse and I don't believe O will pull Etling. We know we will get "Purdue 3rd string" play from Etling, but maybe we could get average SEC play from someone else. Worth a try to me. Or we could leave it alone and wait on the secret play book, on the way to a 6-6 season

If it takes the 5th year of your college career to say this after being the starter for 10 games last year, that is confusing. They need to start grooming Brennan now to play against SEC speed, so the team doesn't have to go through this same exact experience again next year with a new starting running back, new QB, and at least two new OTs and TEs.
Maybe, Brennan might assume leadership by his sophomore year.

I don't think his leadership is an issue at all.
Defenses are gonna continue to load the box (which actually may not be necessary with this o-line), play tight man coverage, and dare our receivers to get separation and Etling to make accurate down field throws under pressure.
Ain't gonna happen.

We will lose 5 to 6 games with or without Brennan, so the live reps for him would be a great thing for the future.

With this O-line, Brennan would not suffer a season ending injury, he would suffer a career ending injury. We do not need to sacrifice the kid before he has a chance.

Quick passes out of the shotgun will not get anyone killed. Many college teams do it and there has been few recent college QB funerals. Our o-line looks worse than it is because of only passing on obvious passing downs and 7 step drops.
